Real Madrid have fired coach Fabio Capello. This is completley ridiculous and they do not deserve to win anything else. He leads them to a freaking title and they fire him? Where is the logic in this? Actually does European football have any logic at all? I mean if you perform only alright then you get fired in Europe. People compain about how we get on our managers in England, but we seem to be doing alright when we have managers in the Premiership who have been at their clubs for a long time. Madrid are acting like idiots and if they think that firing Capello and hiring somebody else will bring them fortunes then they are having a laugh.

They must have a replacement in their back pockets to do this.

But I'm with you; how do you fire somebody who won you the league title -- and I'm talking over BARCELONA, not Chelsea or Liverpool?

The only explanation is that there's nobody on God's green earth with a bigger and more fragile ego than an owner, and it only takes a certain number of times to see your baby called "Fabio Capello's Real" befoe you do something really stupid.

    Amazing.

Yea, I'm sure they have someone ready to take his position, but someone has to take the blame for running off Becks.....it's really hard to believe.

Never been a fan of Capello and doesn't trouble me terribly that he is gone. Real can win without him. He seemed to botch the whole Beckham ordeal while he was there as well...

These guys are so arrogant its crazy. For this reason I think Madrid are the worst of all the big clubs.

Its seems the Spanish press also has a tendency to be extremely biased and arrogant, at least where soccer is concerned.

The woes continue to stack up for Real Madrid with a Beckham on his way out, Barcelona now signing Henry and now the dilemma of finding a new manager. (probably one already waiting in the wings)

Should be an interesting La Liga season...

Why do I think that is the bulk of the dissatisfaction with him?!!!

In his defense... if Beckham wasnt playing up to snuff, it's his decision but after he said "He'll not play again", Beckham made him look silly and I imagine the owners dont care to have their club look silly.

But maybe England should also ditch a certain Assistant on the same grounds.

Capello used some of his players as scapegoats for his inability to win silverware as well and who takes shots at their players personal lives in the media as well? A bit irresponsible and disrespectful IMO...he has a history of undermining players.

Can't deny his successes as a manager...just not my cup of tea.

Well.... HONEST INJUN... I didnt look it up before I posted that Beckham was the straw that broke his back, but just search on Google news and you'll see that was at least the deciding factor.

From Totti and Del Piero to Beckham and Ronaldo...Capello always seems to ruffle the feathers of a club's star(s).

Real Madrid has everything ass backwards. The last two times they have won La Liga, 2002-2003 season and now the 2006-2007 season, they have sacked their manager.

In 2003 they sacked Vicente Del Bosque and now Fabio Capello. No manager after winning a league title should be sacked. That is just not right. Perhaps there is much more to it than we are being told, but it just does not seem to make sense.

Real Madrid needs to sort things out. Since June of 2003, they have had a whopping six managers. That is unreal. They need to find a manager and stick with him. This is just getting ridiculous.

Six managers in six years is a sign of a board out of control. Whenever a successful coach gets fired, I always think of Bud Adams and Bum Phillips with the old Houston Oilers. Bum had the Oilers on the verge of greatness when Adams fired him -- according to NFL and Houston press -- PRIMARILY because he was irritated each time he saw "Bum Phillips' Houston Oilers" in print or on TV. Nobody in sports has bigger egoes than owners.

    And so it goes.

Not sure if Bum and Bud had the same difficulties and problems of upseting players...Not an Oilers historian. There were signs that Capello would be axed before the season was over...it was just a matter of time.

I think they're worried that the Milwaukee Brewers might occupy too much of his time

When they sacked Del Bosque they screwed their club up entirely. I mean he had them playing good football and winning and they sack him. They are still talking about bringing him back whenever there is a Presidential race and now they make the same mistake over again. The Beckham thing is a joke as the owner was saying becks wanted to go to LA to be a Hollywood star so it was not only Capello talking crap about his decision to leave. The European game needs stability not fire your manager for making a small mistake and in this case the Becks thing is a small mistake as he still won the title.

Small mistake in terms of football maybe, but from a marketing stand point...HUGE mistake.

Example...The previous years before Beckham signed with Real Madrid they average roughly 900,000 shirts sold per year world wide. The first year Beckham signed for Real Madrid those numbers sky rocketed to 2,700,000 shirts sold. Marketing mistake...YES
