Only coached at good academic schools, was head coach at Miami-OH and Northwestern... both the leading academic schools of their conferences.

    And was successful at both.

This is a really sad story. He was not only a great coach, but he seemed like a great guy as well. He was very well liked in the Chicagoland area. When I heard this bright and early this morning, I could not believe it.

He has done some amazing things with both Miami-OH and Northwestern. He will be missed on and off the football field by many.

I always rather enjoyed Northwestern's once-every-few-years great season; they'd fall back into mediocrity and occasionally put together a few shockers and be in contention for the Big 10 (11?) title. He'll be missed.
