I just saw Don's post regarding the passing of Alan Ball and I wanted to mention a passing a bit closer to 'home'. Graham Hooper, known on TFI, the official and here as 'MK Hoops' but also known as the 'guy with the drum'. If you heard a drum during Gentleman Jim's commentary, then it was Graham's which you heard. He was killed in a car crash last night and I felt it was appropriate that since we are an extension to the Fulham community that I post to let you all know. I had never met him face to face myself, but had kept in touch via email and had a few of the same Fulham friends. He was Fulham through and through and one of the kindest gentleman you could ever meet. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
Very sad news, our thoughts go out to his wife, kids, family and friends and his best mate Airfix. RIP MK HOOPS fulhamfootiechick and fat freddys cat and family
Today we said goodbye to MKHoops, but... ...his memory will live on, every time we hear the drum beat from Chris we will be reminded of Graham, that wonderful fella who thought about others before himself. In a moving ceremony where his Dad made the eulogy, and Graham's love for Fulham was made abundantly clear some of us wore our Fulham shirts, which Graham would have expected - in fact probably demanded. Here is the poem sent from our mutual Fulham friend in Australia 'Corked Hat' alias 'The Bard':- A distant drum beats in the sky Where Heaven weeps and Angels cry A drum draped in black and white Rhythmic heartbeats on a saddened night Let it make our spirits soar As we hear the drum once more A battle cry for the Fulham troops In memory of MK Hoops He was of course a Fulham fan But even more a lovely man Let not our memories ever cease As the big fella lies in peace The Bard Bless you Graham 'MKHoops' from the only man who could refer to me as 'Tiny'
RE: Today we said goodbye to MKHoops, but... RIP MKHoops. My thoughts and prayers to Graham and his family.
Here is our pal Airfix banging on Grahams Drum in the prematch ceremony before the Liverpool match. It will forever be known as Hoopers Drum and I expect it to be at every match from here on in.
