    this just in

After 58 minutes, Little Sam brings on Heider Helguson to right the ship [they're getting hammered at home by Big Sam] and, sure enough, only 9 minutes later ...

    ... HH gets ... A YELLOW CARD

Hands up everyone whose surprised at THAT contribution.

    Sunderland over Tottenham

Looks like Sunderland scored in the 93rd minute to win 1-0. A little "upset" to start the season.

For those Brits on the site, nice to see Colin Todd's lad score to get a point for Derby.

Also, Palace -- behind Jamie Scowcroft's hat trick -- open up a major can of whup-ass in Southampton.

And, down in C League, Luton hold on for a 2-1 win as do Leeds. Please note: Eddie Lewis now wears the #3 shirt and is listed as a defender.

Elano for Citeh ran roughshod all over the Spammers, WH looked every bit the pre-Tevez side they were last year before the little guy saved their bacon.

I am a bit worried about Citeh. They have a fair amount of quality going forward now and Shmeikel looked fairly solid in goal... I guess it is in the genes.

    Fairly entertaining opening day.

So happy to see West Ham lose!

And did anyone notice the Sikh fourth official? That's one more check off the rainbow.

I did notice that. But what's with all the yellow wristbands? Certainly not Lance Armstrong.

I'm liking Liverpool as my tip for the top. The new boys Babel and Torres are the goods.

I was impressed with the new boys. Veronin didn't get much of a run out, but Torres and Babel were tip top. Babel's first touch almost put Liverpool ahead 2-0.

I am not sure what the wristbands were for either? I'll have to look into that.

Haha, I know I know. BUT they played some quality football today and when Fulham isn't on the tele I have to go for the next best choice.

    Roll on Sunday morning.

I love the Sikh guys who sit near the pitch and players at Old Trafford. They always get on tv.

I like them too, and I like Sven-Goran Ericksson. I think they will have a real good season. Picked them tenth, but that was before they added a few more people. They could do better than 10th I think.

Watched the Sunderland game this morning and enjoyed it. Roy Keane is a stud. Brought in his controversial signing Chopra towards the end and the guy pulls the winner in the dying minutes. Lovely start to the season.

Derby played their hearts out as well apparently. None of it's good for Fulham, but I love it.

    Team of Carraghers,

I hope your Liverpool boys make it through August intact. Would love to see them competing for the title this year. Victory over Aston Villa is a great start.

Love what the American owners and Rafa are doing up there.
