Roma director of football Walter Sabatini has flown in to London to push through a deal for striker Pablo Osvaldo to join Fulham.

The 27-year-old has been linked with an exit from the Stadio Olimpico all summer, with the controversial striker falling out with team-mates, former coaches and the supporters during his time at the club.

Last week, the Italian international confronted a supporter after training at Roma’s pre-season retreat, while on Monday a banner was unveiled branding the striker a “coward”.

As a result, with relationships at breaking point it is understood new coach Rudi Garcia is willing to allow the club to sell the troubled star despite his impressive goal-scoring record for the Giallorossi, and it is understood that the Premier League appears to be his most likely destination.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sabatini flew in to London on Tuesday with two objectives, the first of which is to negotiate terms with Fulham over the striker, although both Tottenham and Southampton are said to be interested.

Yeah, we've been down this road before. We get linked in papers as interested in all these good players, but in the end sign 3 or 4 average players (Berba being an exception). We'll see what happens, as there are bunch of crazy twitter rumors surrounding the players we've been linked with. I'll post the more reasonable ones that have some substance. The Pirlo one I just completely ignored. :lol:

Bent seems doable, as they have Benteke locked up and he's expendable. Don't know too much about Osvaldo or dealing with Italian clubs. But it's a new day, a new owner, and new possibilities. Let's see what Mr. Khan has up his sleeves...and how much he's willing to part with what's in his pockets.

Reports in Italy suggest that Bundesliga club Wolfsburg offered Roma £17m for Osvaldo including a proposal to pay the player £2.4m a year, only for the 27-year-old to reject the move.

But according to Il Messaggero Southampton are set to renew their interest in Osvaldo with Roma's director of football Walter Sabatini hoping to convince the player to accept the move.

Osvaldo is reportedly training well on the club's pre-season tour of America amidst reports that he has already secretly negotiated a move to another Italian team, thought to be Inter Milan.
