Anybody else wtching this? What a first half!

Becks is a surgeon out there, and NY has as hungry a forward line as I've seen in a long time.

Gonna check into the chatroom and see if anyone's about.

It has been an entertaining game. Beckham has set up both of LA's goals.

Goal by Jozy Altidore, 3-2 Red Bulls.

Mathis looking like some of us thought he'd never look again. Makes you want to cry for all the game he lost because of his bad head.

well, that should have been 3-3. Nice work by Landy. He's going to love playing with Becks, I tell ya!

Definitely an entertaining match. I hope LA can pull one back and get a draw. I want to see Beckham succeed.

On another note, I really hope Josey Altidore continues to improve. I really like what I see out of him and I do NOT want him to take the Eddie Johnson route and seemingly get worse with age. Altidore could be a great one for the US down the road in a couple of years if he is coached properly and he puts in the work needed to get to the next level.

    Two thoughts:

    1) Why not just play on naked cement?

    2) Anyone care to play defense? Especially the man marking variety?

    3) Someone, something, actually got me to watch MLS.

Huh, look at that. I strangely long for overtime in soccer.

any bets on it finishing 5-4? I mean we still have a couple more minutes.

My MOM just left the pitch. I haven't seen Mathis play this well since Korea/Japan.

Nice goalkeeping. Did Warner fly to NY after the morning match?

Damn! Where were my manners. Would a Coors Original have done ya?

    Next match, Pard!

    Entertaining? Yes.

    I'll just stop there.

Let's give a push for Conway in goal! And a push for Altidore to come to Fulham!

Wow, what a freaking exciting game of soccer. (I was going to say it was a really "good" game, but decided that "exciting" was a better word because the defending on display was largely not "good".) Becks is obviously making a huge impact on the Galaxy, Donovan showed some fire with that third goal (you could see him yelling "COME ON!" to his teammates afterwards - you don't have to have the armband to be a leader), Cannon (though beat five times) made some great saves.

From the RBNY side, Mathis looks like he continues to thrive in situations like this, and Jozy and JPA are both finding their stride at the same time. Also, Dane Richards seems to be figuring out that it's not enough to just be really fast, but that you have to actually do something with that speed. (He reminds me a bit of Wayne Routledge last season.) The work he did down the left before Mathis' goal was the absolute best I've ever seen him.

As I said elsewhere, this is the game that people who say soccer is boring need to watch to be shown how wrong they are.

    1) Altidore is not Eddie Johnson, Eddie Johnson was a whiny me first b!tch from day one in Dallas, Jozy is exactly the opposite.

    2) Evidently Arena and Harkes are doing a tremendous job of developing Altidore, he gets better by the game, when he's dominating the league and looks to have platued then he should go, but at the moment there is zero reason to mess with a good thing.

That was a great game. My vote for one of the best of the season, if ever for the MLS. I was too afraid to even use the restroom out of fear of missing a goal or great pass.

You could really see it in Beck's face how much he dislikes turf. And to be honest, I don't blame the guy. I could never play on that stuff with a smile on my face.

I can't speak to what EJ was like when he was younger, but Jozy seems to be keeping his feet on the ground reasonably well so far. For instance, he skipped a game earlier in the season to go to his prom - it sounds silly, I know, but I think it's an indication that he's not trying to get ahead of himself.

On top of having Arena and Harkes there, there's all kinds of things Jozy can learn from Juan Pablo Angel, not to mention Clintinho and Claudio. I'm sure Jozy will be headed abroad sometime soon (not that I'd object if he decided to follow Landon's lead and stay here forever and ever), but I don't really think his development is being hindered in the meantime.

I'm sorry... but the only thing Jozy can learn from clint is 'how not to be'.
    {Interesting EJ and Clint Mathis treatment, JMH... what's the difference?!}

And I suppose Claudio is a reminder to not try to hang on too long.

Back to the game.... The two LA high-scoring games leave a slight smell, dont they?
