But I wish now that I had cut, and pasted into a scrapbook, all the McBride detractor posts, on the offal MB, from his first 18 months at the club.

Not 'just' to prove I'm a better judge of role-fitness than most want to admit; but to warn against rash judgements on players who have not been seen properly utilized.

But this doesnt just cut against parochial Fulham fans... this is applicable, also, to those Crew fans who saw McBride leaving as a good thing because he had not produced in later seasons. I felt the same but for different reasons... the Crew attack had deteriorated to the point where no one seemed to think the object was to get the ball to him. Bruce Arena even began to see Brian as a bench player, only to be subbed in when certain needs arose.

The same views were seen on the Crew board when Elliot left.... that he was 'past it', that he was useless and gave the ball away a lot.
Well, Elliot took the oppoortunity for a good reason. - Sigi had already cut him loose once, when he managed Galaxy.. and Simon wasnt about to go through that again.
I didnt even bother arguing... that Simon gave the ball away last season only pointed to team lethargy; no one seemed to want to move into space and it was left to him to take the ball up any way he could.

Fortunately my rating of Simon didnt have time to gather many knives, as he was stuck straight in and had the opportunity to show his worth as a good squad member when injuries and absences made for a short list of subs.

Well, Brian still 'lacks pace' (whatever that is..) and Simon still is just a good first sub for the mid, but the team is obviously better for them.

That the Crew GM now looks at Elliot's move as a 'loss'... brings a smile to my face. It wouldnt have been so had he stayed. He would likely have been traded... though it would have been hard to find a taker who would send Crew a starter for him.

And I get my jollies rubbing it in, on matchnight, that Simon has played every minute he's been at Fulham - due surely to Diop gone and injuries- BUT Which those myopic bastids cant really attack, else they discount the superiority of the Prem sides to MLS...

So, it has come to pass.. Once again, I get the 'you know f%%%-all!' and 'you're new to this fan thing, arent you!'

    Heh!

Petty, is the morale of the story not to rush to judgement when clubs such as Fulham bring new players in?

And, let's face it, to show the chumps I DO know my footy!

Sometimes, just 'knowing you're right' just aint enough. You Have to rub it in... it's just human nature... And I dont give a f@#$ if I embarrass someone else of the different view. It's NOT personal and I'm too old for that.

Remember what I said when Cunningham came on the MLS side, Tom! And what I said about him in regards to his value to a team... that Fulham shouldnt even THINK about him!

Right now, I'm under fire -regarding my fandom- on the matchnight 'other sports' for my Superbowl prediction, and on the Crew board for posting Fulham results.. THEN I got a little crap for bothering to find out why an IE User couldnt post links on that board and pointing it out on the CRew forum.

I remember your Cunningham prediction! Two goals as a sub when he came on and sure enough, he scored two goals within fifteen minutes. I do not doubt your expertise Petty. In addition, I enjoy the fact that you are honest and call things as you see them. In my opinion, that is the only way to have any constructive talks regarding sports or life in general.
