    Hello Internet Pals,

I'm a newcomer to the club scene but have been a USMNT diehard for years. After the '06 World Cup, I arbitrarily picked Fulham as my choice for a Premiership club to follow... mostly due to the American presence on the side. However, lack of games on TV and constant losing killed off my interest before it could ever be cultivated.

Now, it's 4 years later... my appreciation for the sport has grown tremendously. I had been counting down the days to the World Cup for far too long to admit here. Now it's over... and I'm sad to say that my season tickets with the Kansas City Wizards of the MLS probably won't suffice. As a Kansas City fan, I am quite used to abuse and punishment and torture... so I will still go to all the Wizards games and suffer along with my team. However, I wanted to again try to follow a Premiership club.

That led to "The Decision." Yes, while LeBron was determining where to go, I was crunching numbers and studying up on the clubs. I've always despised fans (probably unfairly) that support a team apart from their home city/area. Further, I've REALLY despised fans that seem to just pick their team out of nowhere.

Alas, I was born in Kansas City - and there appears to be no EPL club based in my area. So when I went to choose, I always had Fulham in the back of my mind. I don't know what it is or how it is, but Fulham kept creeping back into the forefront of my mind whenever I would convince myself to support another club.

So here I am. Jumping on the Fulham bandwagon just in time for the respected manager's exit... and just in time for the spreading (even if completely false) rumors that Deuce might be on his way out.

Yes, fellow Fulham supporters, I am a harbinger of doom and dread and perennial disappointment. I hope you will still welcome me with open arms, and I promise you can always cry on my shoulder if I can cry on yours.

Welcome, Schindler, from a St. Louis Fulham fan.

As for the abuse and torture you claim to suffer due to your support of the Wizards, all I can say is that I envy your pain. I wish I had a local MLS team, even one as lowly as the Wizards.

Two questions to determine whether we're to be kindred spirits or bitter enemies:
    Gates or Author Bryant's?
    Jayhawks or Tigers?

I'm sorry you lack an MLS team, and I suppose I should be grateful that I have the honor of being angered beyond belief as our season unfolds. It is a rather special kind of pain... the kind you miss once it's gone. I suppose it's kind of like that beautiful, sweet lady that ripped your heart out and allowed you to watch its final beats before it completely stopped. Once you finally get over it, you miss feeling so strongly about something. All that being said, I'm sorry that you will have to settle for the Rams in September to urinate all over your hopes and dreams.

I hope that we can avoid being bitter enemies, but I wouldn't mind a little lively banter - as long as you stop typing once I feel as though I've lost the argument and there is no way out but to take a knee.

Oh ye Schindler of little faith..

Take it from an ex-cousin {now that the Hunts cast you off}.. you had an MLS Cup winner there in 2000 and another team in the finals in 04 while all the Crew had was one open cup in 02. And had yet to hit bottom.

    Think about it.

Now yer gonna get your own park, and you see what that usually does for a club. And why would you go thru the agony of supporting Fulham if KC stresses ya?

Because you REALLY love it... when things click, it's magic. Fulhamish, IOW

    welcome

It's true that having our own stadium will be a welcomed relief. I want to thank the T-Bones for letting us use their baseball stadium in the meantime, but what a mess.

I do know OF the Wizards success. Unfortunately, I didn't start following them until after their triumphs. I hope the new digs turn things around, too. Who knows... maybe we will win the rest of our games? It could happen... ... ... right? RIGHT???

Now where do I get a damned Fulham shirt? From all reports, I need to avoid the new ones unless I have all my muscles in the right places. Alas, no muscles. Perhaps a throwback then... or an oversized hoodie? Yes...

O for 2. Add in your comments regarding the Rams and we are officially sworn enemies, uniting only for brief periods in support of Fulham.

Dont be so transparent. You got that big-ass arch, and a half-decent baseball team... aint that enough?

I had a feeling we wouldn't see eye-to-eye on those two things... but oh well. Petty makes a good point... you at least have the Cardinals. My Jayhawks just put me through what has been (stupidly and incorrectly) labeled as the worst upset in NCAABB recent/all-time history. My Chiefs can only contend with the Rams and Lions of the NFL. My Royals have been absent from postseason play since the controversial World Series win (oops, don't mention that, right?). And the Wizards are in a downward spiral.

In addition to the new stadium for the Wizards, you guys also have the finest youth soccer complex in the midwest, if not the entire country.

    http://www.opkansas.org/Things-to-See-A ... er-Complex

Looking at your grad year from KU, I suspect you are far too young to have kids playing club soccer, and so having a first-class youth soccer complex probably doesn't mean squat to you. But I can tell you that the soccer clubs here in STL all LOVE playing in tournaments at the Overland Park Soccer Complex. It is a first-class facility.

I did catch a couple of games there when I was a senior in high school, and again when my ex's (ironically, one of the aforementioned beautiful, sweet heartrippers/urinaters) little brother was playing in the state finals... pretty cool facility for sure. But like you said... I'm probably not going to be getting much use out of them for a while.

So can you, instead, talk to me about why things will be all right with the Jayhawks, Chiefs, Royals, and Wizards?

Or better yet, can you tell me why Fulham will make my heart swell with pride?

Oh - and I think my high school won national team of the year last season... not that I had anything to do with it. I'd rather success be at the pro level, but I guess some is better than none.

Well, Steinbrenner died... does that help?

Oh... wait.. he died in magic no-tax year. No player/asset auction.

    Sorry.

They already did. Sorry you missed it. Scan the Europa League posts and articles.

You mean I have to scour old posts instead of people reposting things they already have millions of times? This board won't cater to me? Jesus... what kind of shoddy operation is this?

And Steinbrenner's death has me nervous for Al Davis. We need that dude alive for as long as possible. I'm putting together a care package full of IVs, vitamins, and some herbs I got from a shaman. He's so good for the Chiefs.

I am both humbled and honored by my two or three hours of membership here. I think I already love you all. And Misfit - my folks live in San Juan Capistrano, so maybe the next time I go out there to visit it would be all right if I crashed on your couch and treated myself to the contents of your refrigerator. Great! This is working out well so far.
