Wow absolutley crap performance. My enthusiasm for the world cup has just died considerably. If we replicate that performance against the Checzs or Italians were looking at four-nil. I'm used to seeing Fulham lose so the sting becomes less and less all the time but the upside gets bigger and bigger. I expect the USA to win. When you expect to win and you don't......well it makes you want to throw stuff :x If we don't get out of the group I think I go for any remaining African teams and after that the Dutch. No excuses on this one an A squad and everything :x Here's for hoping they wake up and beat Venezula 8-nil!
I hope they wake-up. Props to Morroco for giving the US everything they could with that team. But the US needs some better performances and I hope they don't think can rest on their laurels from their qualifying play. My take, I hope Wolff doesn't play in the starting line-up, I'm a bit confused on what exactly his role is supposed to be. Is he an attacking midfielder? What? Because I don't understand what he's doing for the team when he's on the field. Beasley maybe going the way of his brother; good speed, but what else? He better be really thinking about what type of player he wants to be and work towards that. Speed is an excellent asset to have on the field, but you still need to be able to keep the ball or be able make a connecting pass to be effective. Donovan did his usual wandering in and out the game, lack of motivation? Overall, the team seemed slow and unmotivated. Perhaps too much training in a small amount of time? There's nothing wrong with that, but game time performance will suffer. Or, complete lack of motivation? We are 16 days away from the World Cup, gentleman. If that's the case, then get your asses in gear, because your playing for your country on a huge stage. I hope you don't need to be reminded of that. I was definitely dissapointed with the loss. But after further reflection, I'm still a bit worried but not as much. One mistake made by Cherundolo in the final minutes of the game because he wanted to get the up the field quickly cost the team. The only time I see that play occuring again is if were down to a team in the World Cup, albeit a very likely scenario. Plus, I think he learned his lesson--passback to Keller if there is a man chasing me. Let's just hope they learned their lessons from this game and raise their performances in the upcoming friendlies.
Win or lose last night the team played like complete dog crap and I think the US has got something coming to them in Germany if they even play remotely close to the way they did last night. Morocco was the quicker, faster team by far and that is very concerning to me. Additionally, the US could not string a few passes together and other than maybe Convey, I did not see one player out on the pitch that played well at all. John O'Brien sucks. I do not care what Landon Donovan says about him and how talented he is, he is not that good and it is evident in watching the matches. As Heather mentioned, Donovan was non-existent mostly the entire match. If he is non-existent against Morocco, how do you think he will fair against the likes of Essien at Ghana and Rosicky with the Czech Republic? Our forwards, including McBride were crap as well. They were not getting the best of service, but there were some times in the last 20 minutes of the match that could have been better. Eddie Johnson missed a header off a corner and there were other things that the US could have been better at. The bottom line is that this US team has loads of work to do and unfortunately, I do not think they have the time to do it. Fortunately, the defense looked to be okay. The goal was a bad play, but I do think Cherundolo can and will learn from that play. The offensive attack needs the most work and I am not sure how to make it better. If we do not score goals, we will no go anywhere. I hope Friday the team has a much better performance against Venezuela. I am worried about Germany. This US team will not shock anyone as they did in 2002. They better be ready or they could go to Germany and be three and out in a hurry.
Right now I am 50-50 as to whether I can make the match on Friday in Cleveland. Anyone else here going?
That was a crap performance, but we arent supposed to be ready for Germany yet. Im sure the will be other big teams that lose or draw against weaker teams suring these friendlies. Although Bruce needs to start players who actually deserve to start. Wolff and Pope are rubbish. Wolff has been rubbish all last year as well. Pope could be like the US' Zat Knight. I dont care about experience and all that its overrated. Also whats wrong with Beasley. For PSV and the US he has been just average over the past couple of months. He bitched because he didnt play for PSV then whe he does start hes average. With the way Convey is playing he could be the starting Left Winger in Germany.
Convey impresses me more and more. I wonder if we could have notched one if he had played the whole game?
