MLS Discipline ... I didn't know

    I pulled the following from Grant Wahl's article on CNNSI today:

    I had no idea the MLS had implemented this policy but I really like it. Any thoughts?

    I must say I'm confused by this because I thought MLS was doing retro bans way before last season (i.e. multi-match ban on Rico Clark for kicking Carlos Ruiz, 10 match ban on Mullen for maiming Steve Zakuani, etc). Not clear to me how anything is different. Maybe it's the fact that it's an anonymous committee?

    And one player commenting "the refs make so many mistakes", makes me wonder if there also isnt an element addressing officiating retroactively. There certainly have been plenty of accusations regarding poor or inconsistent officiating in MLS.

    I'm in favor of getting the call right even if it takes later action, especially in 'cheap shot' situations.
