I was just thinking earlier today about which club in the MLS seems to have the best home supporters. There were a few obvious choices, but I wanted to know what everyone else thought.

The top choice for me this season would be Toronto FC. The fans at BMO Field are relentless and have really gotten behind their team. Chicago and Houston both have a solid group of fans and those fans often travel well.

So any thoughts. I have only seen the Chicago Fire fans in person, but from watching television I think BMO has been rocking lately and that is exactly what the MLS needs.

    Any thoughts?

Definitely Toronto. DC and Houston also seem pretty good, but have you seen the youtube videos of the crowd when Toronto FC scored their first goal? CRAZY. They also actually have their own songs and can be heard singing during the games.

Definitely Toronto, as of now. they can teach us all... and by the way; their supporters came to Cols and, because of how some of them are on BS, we expected the same from them as we saw with Fire fans.. causing trouble.

Nothing could be further from reality. They were great and friendly and we loved them!

    Yes.. you read that right!

If every traveling fan group were like Toronto's MLs would be fantastic for atmosphere because the locals really get caught up in it!

Have to make it a clean sweep for Toronto, the envy of the whole league. Chivas fans are good, but out here the undying love and monster following of the parent club is the main reason for support.

Another point to make is that those clubs who don't have a soccer specific stadium don't get the notoriety they deserve. The stadiums that are not soccer specific are far too open, sound is not contained and supporters are spread out too far from each other.

But...as all have said before the fans at BMO are fantastic. Would love to see a match up there.

Colorado seems to be getting better this season with the opening of their new stadium. I haven't made the 7 hour drive up to watch a game yet, but will be going next month for the All Star game.

Dick's seems to be a great stadium, I think the fans will start growing in numbers and volume throughout this season.

Relatively poor attendance record for them so far. I would've expected a much better showing at the matches.

Seems the Denver community isn't getting behind the club too much and that is unfortunate for them. Wouldn't rate their fan atmosphere as anything special.

I was at the game between Columbus and TFC, and I must say that having the Toronto fans make the trip down and have such enthusiasm was a humbling experience to see.

I remember telling my girlfriend that we had quite the crowd. One one side of the stadium was the TFC fan club, on the other you had a group of Latin Americans banging away the ENTIRE match in support of my beloved Crew. And in between you had the Americans sitting there watching the ball go back and forth like it was a tennis match. I was embarrased and it took everything I had to not stand up and start chanting like a jerk. Anything but the silence!

I'm hoping that TFC and their fan clubs can show us a thing or two about how to really support your home team, both home AND away. I know I've sent an email or two to the local Columbus Crew fan club about their silence and how we got punk'd essentially.

Why is it that so few people attend Crew matches and they are relatively poorly supported?

You're kidding right? Dont forget that Columbus is more like Cincinnati, than Cleveland. Three straight seasons of suck can do that!

While we were competitive in the first five years of MLS we were reg 3rd or 4th in attendance

So the fans for the Crew are somewhat of glory hunters or band wagon fans? Will they only go out to the park when their side is doing well.

No... we dont settle for crap.

And we {general fan population} thumb our noses at those who do. Let's face it, no matter what you might WANT to think, success is based on bandwagoners.

Ask Mike Brown who be content with Bengals doormat if the fans hadnt sent a message by staying away.

OTOH if the Crew had RBNY's record and playing performance, we'd have 17000 tix sold easily.

    Understandable...

Do rate Danny O'Rourke though. Real talent and it was great to see him, moor and nolly win the national championship at IU when I was there.
