What is Steve McClaren doing? He's called Gerrard into the team for the next match but he's not going to play because of his toe. Why call him into the team? In my opinion....England is pretty well stocked...why not get someone else in...maybe someone who has not played for the National Team...and get them experience in Training Camp w/ the National Team. I'm not saying they have to play in the match...but get them in to train against the best...see what they're made of. Am I way off here?

possible players to bring in instead of Gerrard:

Steve Sidwell....this guy is quality....give him a shot.

Phil Jagielka...has made a B Team appearance. Very versatile...but not starting for Everton right now. I wish we had him.

Kieran Richardson...has 4 CAPS (i believe only 4) with the National Team. In his debut vs. the USA, scored 2 goals in an England victory. His other 3 appearances were as a subsititute....all of this before the 2006 World Cup. Why not bring him back in?

    Any other suggestions?

it isnt just mcclaren, its the entire FA. they're a horrible mix of a gentlemen's club and the mafia. once you're in thats it - you're untouchable.

owen, hargreaves, lennon etc etc are but a few examples. owen's played what, 3 games in a year?

despite all the idiocies within us soccer, bob bradley and crew appear fortune 500 owners compared to the FA who cant even run a hot dog stand correctly.

Nobody should ever mention Kieran Richardson and England in the same sentence.

Part of the reason Owen hasn't played much is injury. He seems to be always injured.

Hargreaves is class and he should get way more time on the national squad, but he isn't fit right now, either.

McClaren was what... 3rd, 4th or even 5th choice of the FA?

His last match as a club manager Boro' was thumped 4-0 in the UEFA Final. Granted it was Sevilla, but after all that build up he leads his side out there to get embarassed. Just who you want to lead your nation.

Now the FA have completely botched the choice of the last few managers. Hoddle was the last wise choice the FA made. The entire organization seems a bit spineless to me and McClaren seems to embody these values. The latest of these exploits stemming from Beckham and Carrager.

Beckham had a rough run of form for his club and was demoted to the bench by Capello and McClaren followed suit by cutting Becks from the national team. When Capello realized the errors of his ways and began featuring Beckham in the first team again, McClaren once again followed suit.

Carragher, one of the best CB's in football today has been 4th or even 5th choice at times for McClaren. Sitting on the bench in favor of Terry, Ferdinand, King and Woodgate. Granted Terry and Ferdinand warrant there positions, but King and Woodgate? McClaren is having a laugh. Carragher has shut down the likes of Drogba, Shevchenko, Ronaldinho, Eto'o and on some occasions even Kaka. How on Earth does he not warrant a spot in the England starting XI. Once Carra said he had enough of McClaren's bull sh*t and moved on the masses began to complain. McClaren went to beg Carra to come back just like he did for Beckham.

Seeing a pattern? Sven all over again?

I am not an England national team fan, but even I can realize McClaren is making a mess of the job.
