Drilled down thru several blogs.. thatMcCain is looking for a BIG venue in Dayton OH for the 29th.

    1. Would seem to suggest for the announcement of running mate from Ohio. So who?
Certainly NOT Mike Dewine, he's toast. So, Ken Blackwell.. or John Kasich.

Blackwell LOST the race for OHGov. but that's okay because the sentiment was to teach OH GOP a lesson for Taft. Kasich is well known and respected conservative. National exposure on Fox News 'From the Heartland'
    - I'm betting Kasich.. but Blackwell is black.

    2. Why Dayton? Neither are from Dayton, but the stop may already have been scheduled. If true, will be in either UD Arena or Nutter Center {Wright State}.

Either sounds probable, but I think that McCain is going to spend a LOT of time in Ohio regardless of where his VP candidate comes from. In any case, either of your guys meets my prime pre-requisite: He's not Governor Perry of Texas.

It will not be Rick Perry.

Turns out, according to the Politico blog, that the appearance must have been prescheduled, but McCain may announce his VP there to try to damp some of Obama's post convention bounce.
Nothing to do with picking someone from Ohio.
