That is great for Brian. Without all those goals, who knows what would have happened!

Before he went into his goal drought, he was playing his best fitba in a Fulham shirt. That shot of him kissing his ring while blood drips out of his knees says it all about the dude.

What a great guy and what a role model for young American players.

And kudo's to Boca for third and Supehero Niemi for 2nd.

I dunno why i always seem to be the 'contrarian'!
Oh well, I suppose Niemi is insightful enough to understand the Brit fan... they only seem to recognize a brilliant keeper once he's gone from the goal.

Good on the fans to vote him 2nd, though, and a good recognition of Bocanegra (and all the yanks) that he's 3rd.

Congrats to Big Mac, his committment is always a joy to watch. Here's hoping that in what surely will be his final season in England that the team improves on its table position and he can leave knowing he did his part in helping keep FFC in the prem.

I said it at BS and I'll say it here: I think McBride is deserving of the award. While I think Niemi was also deserving for his consistent play all year round; I don't think Fulham would many games without McBride putting the ball at the back of the net. They had enough trouble fighting relegation, it would have been certain without those wins in 2006.

    Congratulations to McBride!

I would have voted for Niemi for his recent performances; however, he did miss quite a few games due to injury, which I think knocks him down a few pegs for the player of the year award. McBride was available for every game (or almost every game) and gave everything he could for the team--he deserves the award again. Congrats, Mr. McBride!

I think it says a lot about the passion that FFC fans on both sides of the Atlantic have for the Whites that the predominately Brit population on the right side of the water have chosen an American as their player of the year, while over here on the left side, the American supporters -- many of whom were drawn to FFC by that same American footballer -- has chosen a non-American as OUR player of the year.

We love Brian McBride as much as our British cousins do -- make no mistake about that -- but we love Fulham even more.

COYW. Let's hope for a productive summer and ROLL ON AUGUST! Let's get ready for some fitba!

I'm surprised by Boca being third. I know he delivered some key goals during the season, but in terms of defense, am I the only one who remembers him being predominantly slow and sluggish? Maybe that's a bit harsh. He does make some good challenges, but I'm just confused as to why he'd be ranked that high. In fact, the idea that ANYONE in the back four is in the top 3 is mindboggling.

Oh Jelly, his goal against the scum was worth the 3 spot alone.
