I dont know if he is serious but I've read this from several different sources. Bianca has to prefer London. Fulham doesnt need another short speedster - how 'bout Spurs? Is he good enough?

He'd fit right in at Spurs. What's one more very talented striker with a 10 cent heart? That's like putting another box of candy in the back of a Wal-Mart truck. There's always room for one more.

Please don't come to Fulham Landy.

I've said it before, but a MASSIVE club like QPR would be a perfect fit.

A championship club would be fine. I would be willing to take him in on a short loan at Spurs.

It doesnt mean he has to play, but it would be a chance to finally see if he actually is good enough.

If he were to come - and he turned out to be good enough - that would get us another striker option before January. I think he might do ok with a big partner like chenko.

That being said - I have not really seen lando as the Defoe/Keane type.

I suppose the point is - nobody really has anything to lose by bringing him in. He will only want to go to a 'bigger' club tho. The biggest clubs wont have him, but a struggling 'bigger' club might.

Can't see LD going to the fizzy pop league under any circumstances. A big hinderence for him will be the fact that come Jan. he won't be match fit. He's fluent in Spanish and I would prefer for him to go there.

His recent quotes where he's owned up to his failure in Germany and realizing that playing on a team languishing at the bottom of the MLS during the prime of his career might not be the best thing for him shows a maturity that all USMNT fans should be encouraged by. Like him or not (no gray area with him) he is the best player we have by far and besides Timmy is the only guy that can currently be called 'World Class".

I wouldn't be surprised if Beckham hasn't influenced LD to give it a shot again. If so, and Cakes goes and has success then that good be the best thing Becks ever did for the game in the States.

I could see Landycakes going to either Osasuna or Athletic Bilbao (they now allow non-Basque players, right?).

Both are big clubs languishing in the bottom and could pay large amounts of cash to MLS. Which, we all know, is all the MLS cares about.

Edit -- Bilbao doesn't allow non-Basque. So scratch them.

But I think you get my point.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but how does Bilbao get away with that? Certainly that's against EU work regulations.

Wait - if he came on loan he would not be able to come right away? I thought loans were outside of the requirements of the transfer window.

I think the Premier League only allows loans during transfer windows except in an emergency, like if all of your keepers get injured at the same time. Lower league clubs have a much later loan deadline, but I'm not sure if that is only for loans between other English clubs.

I am unhappy about him going to Bayern - if he goes to Bayern that is. I would like to see him in the EPL because I would really like to see how he does, and I watch almost ZERO German football.

I guess we should have expected this considering the Klinsman connection.

My emails earlier today with some mates who run with the present and former ESPN crew:

"He and Klinsy (Klinsy-Cakes??) must be pretty chummy.

If he thinks he has lost some of his identity with Beckham, he would be in for a shocker with Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose, Bastian Shweinsteiger, Lukas Podolski (still with them?), and one of the ugliest, albeit best, footballers in Europe, Fugly Frank.

A bit of a gamble by Jeurgen as well. Could, could cost him some respect in the Training Room."

    Later:

"Not being daft, but the Scottish League may be his best bet. He can prove himself without looking like a total shrimp. And Scotland is very much a stopping off point for those getting ready to make the jump to Premiership.

Of course he would have to go Old Firm. And with the Scottish version of the Blue Scourge already employing two Yanks, Celtic could be the rocket he may find best to hitch his wagon full o' cakes to.

Of course, were that to happen, I would find myself in the awkward position of rooting for him. Still, him with Skippy, McGeady, and Brown, amongst others, would provide some fast, fancy, and tasty action.

    Tasty-Cakes?? Excuse me while I go throw-up."

Which is apparently the reason Landycakes aren't available in Europe.

Christian, I think we've followed Cakes long enough to know there isn't a snowball's chance in hell of him leaving Manhattan Beach to play in Scotland. The guy's ego is far too big to entertain thoughts of playing the dregs like Falkirk (or whomever in that 2 team league).

For anyone who thinks Landon lost his identity because of Beckham couldn't be more wrong. He had BY FAR his best season, and if anything found his identity as a world class player because of Becks. I would even go further and say if Beckham hadn't come along Cakes might still be okay with staying here and not testing the waters again.

As far as him being homeboys w/Klins-cakes, other than Klins being a Galaxy advisor for years, living in the same small community that is Manhattan Beach, and almost being named USMNT coach I have no idea why there would be a connection between the two

Landon would do better in La Liga or Eredivisie. Bundesliga is too disciplined, Ligue 1 is too defensive, and SPL is too physical.

The Eredivisie would be a waste for him. I also think that the SPL is. I think he'd do fine in Germany, England, or Spain. But I think that Spain is BEST both for his style of play and because he's fluent in Spanish.

Eredivisie would be good for establishing himself in Europe and gaining the necessary exposure and confidence. While it is not a top league, it is a respected league for what it offers; a high percentage of non-domestic players in higher European leagues got their starts in Holland. If a player can succeed in Holland, he's a known quantity. Succeeding in the MLS, or even Internationally? Not so much (see Johnson, Eddie and Healy, David).
