For years I've pooh-poohed the idea of an NFL franchise in London -- because of the NFL cartel model of contractual control and because of the expense of travel AND because of the loss of television revenue. The first one was the guaranteed killer as the NFL's control over player movement and contracts violates about 273 EU regulations. Well, the TV and travel expense hurdles haven't changed, but Brexit and an anti-worker government means the first may be changed.

Another thought leapt to mind while I was typing this: This doesn't have to mean that Jacksonville loses the franchise. Why would Khan want to move them after spending so much money building a brilliant venue? Perhaps he's looking at two or three Jags matches at Wembley with the rest at Jax. There's plenty enough money for him from stadium revenues for everything else Wembley is used for.

HD, it’s the investment he’s doing around the Jags stadium that is an indicator they aren’t moving (basically making a Jax version of the SA Riverwalk) w/the stadium as the anchor.

That said, he wants the Jags to be the defacto home team at Wembley. At least 2 ‘home games’. It sounds like there will be another version of the Concorde in the not so distant future so travel time would be helped.

As far as the contracts, that’s a whole different kettle of fish. I will say the NFL model (forget the sport itself) is far more appealing then Euro football. 2 team leagues eliminate hope.

I've been a Jags fan from the beginning and I take Khan at his word when he says that Jacksonville (and Fulham) are not moving. As Joe points out, he's putting a lot of investment in the stadium and the riverfront areas of Jacksonville that build off the team's presence. Don, you are absolutely correct that he's just looking ensure the Jags have a place to play a couple games a year. I'm not worried about the Jags' future in Jacksonville while Khan's the owner.

There's no reason to believe Khan would do this if there were any chance he'd hurt Fulham. Just read the whole statement. "...this venture is 100 per cent independent of my investment in and operation of Fulham Football Club, Motspur Park and Craven Cottage. No less attention will be paid to developing players and fielding a squad that will win with frequency and always make you proud. It will have no impact on Craven Cottage as the home of FFC. And...absolutely nothing changes in our plan to redevelop the Riverside Stand." I think it's actually brilliant, "outside the box," "push the envelope" and whatever other lamebrain business cliche's you want to use thinking. And I mean, heck, who else do you know who's got 600-900 million dollars just lying around to spend?

I don't know if this was intentional or not, but the following comment from the super bowl article made me laugh out loud:

That’s absolutely ridiculous. The Super Bowl is an AMERICAN tradition. Maybe you should buy yourself a soccer team and move yourself to London and stop with these outrageous crazy ideas of yours.
