We need him as back-up. What a bummer.

That would thin the pool of backs wouldn't it. I wonder if Fulham have a replacement waiting in the wings?

Is it me or has Reither been getting dinged up the last month or two? So I guess this means Baird is now the RB cover?? Good luck to Kelly if he does leave, not the most skilled player, but got consistently better last season and did a solid job. Just another window where I have no clue what the club is doing.

your attention is gently invited to my "rant" of a month or so ago. I'm even more convinced that Fulham are ridding themselves of long-term contract obligations.Remember that Kelly was the only veteran to get a significant extension over the summer and now he's gone.

Now I read that Baird is a few matches short of enough appearances to trigger an automatic extension. And now HE'S not playing. Ridding yourselves of high wage players, Ridding yourself of long-term financial commitments, and signing players to 1 year contracts or loans as the primary means of filling out our squad are all hallmarks of a club trying to attract new ownership. Increasingly, I think this is where we're going.

And, yes, we spent money on Berbatov and he is a somewhat long-term commitment, but I'm positive that he has a buyout clause should we be relegated. These are all disturbing things to me. It's hard to remember the last time new ownership came into the Prem and improved the franchise.

dum....... Dum........DUM!!!!!! I could easily see Mo doing some estate planning and preparing Fulham to be moved on to new ownership. If his heirs have no interest in Fulham then he would likely need to find new ownership for the clubs sake. Not that this has anything to do with Kelly .............. or does it?

Where would the stadium investment and improvements fall in your theory Don? That the owner is making house improvements to encourage a sale? Hmm...seems somewhat plausible.

If I am a big money, new ownership group I know I want a larger stadium than the Cottage. The only question in my mind is will another 5,000 seats make the club that much more attractive to a new buyer or would I rather have a new stadium elsewhere that could seat more?

The CLUB has approval to expand beginning this summer. This approval is critical to a new buyer. Should the club be relegated at the end of this season, no expansion need be done and we've still got the 18m quid or so we got this past summer. The point is that we're not spending money of infrastructure improvements either -- especially on something that takes a while to complete.

I hope I'm wrong about this. I often am, but I don't think so this time.

I would think there would be some more hints to say Mo was selling, like some rumors in the papers to drum up some interest, if your theory were true. There are some plausible facts you point out that make it an attractive club to buy. But you still have to put a for sale sign out in the yard to others know you are in fact selling.

Not if you already have interested suitors in your pocket. I do love the smell of a good conspiracy theory in the morning.

This. Unless someone else is coming in, I don't see why you'd move Kelly short of Don's black helicopter theories.

There's nothing wrong with squad players. You have to have them in the event of injury, but more important, to train against. The word is that we're looking to move Baird too though.

I've seen reports that Baird is also available in the market.
