Wow. Stinks for Sunderland. That will most definiately shake up the team. Odds of Sunderland going down have double IMO.

This generation's Kevin Keegan. Sign on, pledge your fealty, walk away when your genius is questioned. The next boss will have less trouble getting his head through the training room doorway.

Best choice for a replacement: Sam Allardyce.
Worst choice for a replacement: Kevin Keegan

If they're patient, they may be able to get Mark Hughes. Citeh's newly funded and unruly lot are screaming for his head and wanting a "sexier" gaffer more befitting their "place" in football. I wouldn't be surprised to see a change by the transfer window. That would be good fortune for whatever side has an opening at that time (if it happens).

It will be better for the club that he has moved on. That being said - they need to get someone in that can get them sorted before the Christmas run of matches because if they dont pick up points there - they may be finished.

I think AG might be right. Hughes would be a higher profile choice than Allardyce but not sure who would be better for the players they have now and more importantly getting them going in the right direction. Sam has done some good work as well.

In a relegation world it's hard to feel for anyone. Let them continue to struggle and enjoy life in the Fizzy Pop league next season.
