passed away at the age of 62. He was one of the most interesting players ever to wear the Astros uniform. I remember him -- obviously pissed off at his catcher/manager -- signaling what he was going to pitch as if he were warming up on the sidelines. I also remember that, as a switch hitter, he didn't do the lefty/righty thing. Instead, he'd bat right-handed against junk-ballers and left-handed against fireballers. Finally, he was always a good source of a quote, my favorite being: "You can sum up baseball in two words: 'you never know'."

He was 'one tough Dominican'. Great pitcher with a huge personality and a hair trigger temper. Too bad that him being ejected in Game 7 is what is remembered most.

He did well in St. Louis, and is fondly remembered. A true character.
