Interesting - Comparison of FFC's attacking

Zonal Marking did a breakdown of premier league teams point of attack. It's a somewhat busy graph but one team, Fulham, really stands out as the only team that attacks down the center more than the left or right. Dont know quite what to make of it, but it's interesting and introduced me to a new site called WhoScored.

Further proof of something we all talk about and that's the lack of width in the attack. Fulham gets away with it at home, but rears it ugly head on the wider pitches away. Kelly and Riise aren't exactly speed merchants up the flanks are they? Once the lads are safe points wise, maybe the reason Kacaniklic (a winger) was recalled from his successful loan at Watford is to get some playing time.

 

We don't really have out and out wingers, so this doesn't surprise me. That's one of the things we need to figure out in the transfer windows. Somebody like Matt Jarvis could provide width.

 

Not surprising to see where we fall on this, but surprising to see that we're the only team to attack so much through the middle. How long has it been since we've had a legitimate winger getting regular time? Even when Simon was getting minutes he, like Duff, would look to move to the center in the final third. It seems to be a tactic that started with Roy and has become more and more pronounced.

 

Fulham hasn't employed a true "winger," as in get down the flanks and cross/create opportunities all season. I agree with SCJ that K-Can (I'm not going to try and spell it right now, but will in the future) was recalled b/c of this issue - and the ongoing 270+ minutes without a goal.
