I'll be in Houston on Sunday. My relatives dont have FSC. I see the Richmond Arms is listed on this site as a good soccer watching pub. Will anyone be there? Is it even open at 10 am? Anyone know any other good pubs in Houston for soccer? I will be in West University. Thanks m

The Richmond Arms is the only place I know to go to. They open early on Saturdays and Sundays for the games. I watched the Liverpool game there. Normally it isn't very crowded... unless there's a European national game being televised from the few times I've gone there.

I will probably be there. I'll where an away Fulham jersey so you can recognize me.

Thanks Lyle. I will be there with my hubby and 10 yr and 7 yr old sons. I will also try to talk my brother into coming, he's not a footie fan but is always in for a pub and any sport. My 10 year old will have a 2004 Fulham shirt on. Happy Thanksgiving and hope to see you there.

    Ooh, just saw this thread.

Hope everything went well at Richmond Arms. Also, if you're on the Westside of town, Big John's usually has all the matches on. Much larger place and more Televisions than RichArms.
The Bull and Bear on the Westside is also an option.

Thanks Markus, next time we're in Houston we'll try Big Johns. I hope to come in Feb for the US MNT vs Mexico but I dont want to watch that one in the pub. Maybe we'll stay for the weekend; havent checked the EPL schedule that far in advance to see what's on.

    the Bull and Bear:

    Near Westhiemer and Kirkwood.
It's a Celtic bar, good grub and they support Houston's MLS

    Big John's:

    On Wilcrest near Beltway8
It's a Rangers pub, but they show probably the most matches in town.

Richmond Arms used to be the standard here in town before these two opened up, and truthfully these days I consider RichArms the third choice (for watching, that is. b/c of size and screens...and I'm an inner looper!)

Yeah, I'm an inside the loop person myself... the Westside is a long way off. So both these places open up early on Saturdays and Sundays?

The Richmond Arms is cool, but I've only seen it really lively when a European national team is playing. The times I've gone on Saturday or Sundays for Fulham there hasn't been a whole lot of people. Mostly handfuls of Man Utd, Liverpool, and Arsenal fans.

Thanks Lyle, inside the loop is what I was thinking myself. Although Richond Arms is a mile or so outside the loop it isnt a commute outside the loop.

Markus, what kind of showing do the Bull and Bear and Big Johns get for a Fulham match?.

Any of those three places are pretty slim on Fulham fans...Just somewhere that actually shows the game. Like Lyle said, scatterings of ManU and Chelsea fans, mostly.

All of those should open early for matches.

RichArms was packed to capacity this year for Rugby...six nations, world cup stuff.

Clevelandmo- Have you got your USNAT v MEX tix yet? They were selling them here literally days after announcing.
I was at the US/MEX match 4-5 year ago here at reliant...crap game, but UNBELIEVABLE atmosphere. It's a must-attend.

I read they've already sold 24,000 tickets, more than a third of total seating. US soccer also said it is splitting ticket sales and seating between US fans, Mexican fans, and nuetral fans. I dont know how they can actually distinguish but I hope it improves the US support relative to the Mexican support. I'm still not sure if I can come so I havent bought tickets yet.

When purchasing the tickets, they had "codes" to input:
    US supporters
    Mex supporters
    Supporters' groups (Sam's Army, Etc)
    and Neutral.

I've never seen anything like that done in the US, but after being there last time, I see where it would probably be needed. Not violence or anything, but just very passionate fans.
