If it wasn't for bad luck the kid would have no luck at all.

I feel for Holden. I have to wonder about the mental toll on top of the physical toll. Godspeed on your recovery sir.

Stu was playing his first game with the Bolton U21s and went down. He had to be substituted as a result. Apparently he was holding his right knee. An update on his condition is expected soon via Bolton's twitter. His right knee was the one with the torn ACL

If it wasn't for bad luck, Stu would have no luck at all. Was thinking that this update was going to be good news, not that he got hurt again in a U21 match. Not sure if coaching was something he was interested in doing after his playing days were over, but if the scan reveals more bad news perhaps its time to hang them up.

He's good looking and well-spoken. He might get a studio gig for the World Cup on his way to a TV career. Over the years, I've seen this happen in all sports. It still saddens me.

Hard not to wonder if this would have ever happened had DeJong and Evans not inflicted their damage first.

Yep, Stu did recover from the ankle injury from DeJong and became Bolton's Player of the Year, but the Evans inflicted injury was so catastrophic and on the knee that has been the issue.

Good point HD about a future in TV if he so chooses. I was thinking coaching would be something he might want to do since it's getting pretty apparent he won't physically be able to attain all the goals he wanted to and his competitive drive might force him to go in that direction.

Joe the Evans inflicted injury was to his left knee. I just wonder if all the time off due to these injuries did create weakness, imbalances, or over compensation of some sort

Having had all sorts or knee trauma over the lat 30 years, I can't imagine an injury to one knee that would NOT weaken the other as well.
