As I said elsewhere earlier today. Here's the top 3 managerial performances this season:

    1. Roy Hodgson
    2. Steve Bruce
    3. Gianfranco Zola

Here's the most likely 1-2-3 in the voting for Barclay's Manager of the Year:

    1. Sir Alex Ferguson
    2. Rafa Benitez
    3. Arsene Wenger

What a curmudgeonly cynic our Don is!

That said... what a twit the writer is. The premise being 'Players, okay what about the managers?', he then expends half the column space on players before he gets to the point.
And summa you guys complain about me! Please note I dont get paid for it.

But, in the foot of the piece, he makes the case - assuming the reader has bothered sticking with the florid prose - for Roy: hands down.

    All's well that ends!

you seem to have a lot of respect and adoration for Gary Megson. Is he a former Hatter?

I'd agree with Don's first list (not the Gary Megson version). The order has varied at different points in the season, so probably best to refrain until we're done on picking one. Not too long ago Martin O'Neill would have been in that grouping.

I'd like to see an owner of the year. My vote: Mike Ashley!!!

I certainly hope so. They'll probably beat out Hull on the last day, hail Shearer as savior, fire him 2 mos into next season after they falter out of the blocks, then continue to torment the league with their idiocy for another campaign.

For me, there are 2 candidates for manager of the year: Roy and David Moyes. Of course, I vote Roy, simply because he took a team from near relegation to top 10 in one and a half seasons. But Moyes has also done a fantastic job at Everton.

Whiner of the year for me is always the same: ARSEne :)

good stuff here. this is from the Independent:

Roy Hodgson: 'I don't believe in innovation'
pf note: This is a long nice piece in the Independent and documents what Roy has done, how, and where. Please read it in the Independent.

To Omsdogg: Sorry to cut it but I always have to make a choice when someone pastes a whole article; should I wait until the source discovers it or should I just pare it down to 'Fair Use'?

I think the best practice is to assume we'll be warned every time and forestall that.

Finally read the Independent article. Fabulous, thanks for posting Oms.

I read in the Telegraph (I think) that if Roy won manager of the year, it would be the first time an Englishman has done so. That is hard to believe, but yet another reason why Roy needs to win

Just looked it up, its true Of course it looks like the award always goes to who wins the league title - what a joke
