Help Me Convince a Friend To Support Fulham

I've mentioned elsewhere on this board, I think, that I'm making a trip to London in November and staying with a friend from the States who's moving there soon. Well, she's asking for my help in picking a team to support, and of course, you all KNOW what *I* think about that. She's going to be living in Islington (if I'm not mistaken), which would make it reasonably easy to at least convince her to go for Spurs instead of one of the other, more offensive non-Fulham London clubs, but of course, my standards are higher than that!

I'm going to point her to the excellent "Why I Support Fulham, and Why You Should Too" blog post that was linked here, but if any of you have more advice about how to convince her to support the Black and White Army, please feel free to post it here!

 

If she's a 'shopper' and/or a follower of English royals scandal, surely the connections with MAF would seal it.

You know ALL the connections, surely. Point out that Spurs discarded Keller while he was still good. That Fulham brought in yanks. The historic grounds... something for anyone, in my view.

1. It's a small, family-oriented club. When supporting this club you are NOT just another number, but a member of a family and once you join that family, you will always be welcomed and made to feel comfortable in and around the other Fulham supporters.

2. It is the oldest club in London and it has a very historic and beautiful stadium in Craven Cottage.

3. Fulham supporters are NOT glory-hunters. They roll with the ups and downs of the club and one thing as a Fulham fan that is interesting is the up and down nature of how the team plays week in and week out.

There are many, many other reasons but these are a few that come to mind right now. Supporting another club will make you just a number. With Fulham you will always feel special and feel important.

Tom, sorry to be pedantic, but it is the oldest professional club in London.

Goodluck jmh with converting your friend. If you want her to become a Fulham fan tell her to go to Craven Cottage first and then defy her to choose somewhere else.

If she is a fair weather supporter and hasn't paid all that much attention to English Football then I would say it comes down to you and your friends to convince her. IF she has a nice time attending matches and going to the Fulham pubs then you have a great chance of getting her to support Fulham... if not then beware of a new Spurs or dare I say Chelsea supporter...
