    Story of the day.

Before I took misswitch2 back to the airport yesterday, we decided to grab lunch and a drink at a local restaraunt in my town.

After about 5 mins, a group of guys came in and sit down next to us...to our surprise its Bocanegra and a bunch of the USMNT. I couldn't believe my eyes...

    Their off to Germany........

Glad you got to se them in person. I stayed in the same hotel with them in Nashville for the Morocco match, and for the most part some very approachable and nice guys. One of the few benefits of living in a non-footy country.

WoW! Which guys did you see!? I wonder how often they get noticed when in the US. Not much I would think.

    Guess Who's Going to Germany

This is a take an email I sent right before the Morocco match. Needless to say, I was caught up in the moment:

"A few hours before the game here in Nashville. Since my buddy Ryan and I just happened to stay at the same hotel as the team, it has been great meeting the players and coach, and getting signatures on one of my U.S. shirts. All the guys seem pretty cool, but Cherundolo, Convey and Hahneman (a former Fulham bench warmer) stand out as the coolest so far. Bruce Arena is exactly as you might imagine. Stone faced, a man of few words, and very, very serious.

Funny story, I was riding the elevator with a bunch of players (including the one and only American Cottager Forward Brian McBride) and one of the trainers I was talking with. All the players and trainer got off at a floor before the lobby, at least I thought all the players got off. I look over at an older guy with glasses on, say what's up, and ask him if he is going to the game. His reply, "huh?" As we get off the elevator and he is walking in front of me, I realize it is freakin' Kasey Keller, our starting Keeper! I say, "oh man, I'm sorry" His reply, "don't worry about it, REALLY, don't worry about it." I'm thinking he really meant "don't talk to me you idiot." Anyway, besides being an idiot, I am really busy being a soccer dork and acting like a little kid. Otherwords, I am having a great time!"

By the way, I also managed to get Hahnemann and Boca to sign my Fulham shirt (did shake hands with McBride though), and I had a brand new Standard de Liege shirt that Onyewu signed. To sell or not to sell, that is the question!

Hope you had a great sit down with the team Mike!

Definitely wait after the World Cup (or maybe a few years) to decide whether to sell the shirt. It would be interesting to see where he's playing next season, and that alone might increase the price someone will be willing to pay.
