Good news about the expansion of Craven Cottage which has been approved and set to be completed over the summer.

The Planning committee met on 6 March to consider the application to expand the ground. The application is 2006/03377/PAC.

The application was for the "erection of extensions to the rear of the Hammersmith End, including the enclosre of prefabricated boxes to provide additional spectator seating, new toilet facilites and a restaurant".

This replaces the 2005 application which would have included a large bar/lounge, but no extra seats. In its place will be an additional 1100 seats taking the capacity to 25690, up from the current 24590.

The proposed restaurant will overlook the river and the catering facilites will be permanent together with brand new toilets. The vans which turn up on matchdays will be gone as will the tiolets on the grounds boundary.

There were objections from a number of residents and from the sailing clubs worried about the loss of their wind.

FFC will have to give the council £50k for active traffic contol systems on matchdays solely because of the 1100 extra visitors who are assumed to generate an additional 200 cars.

There are a number of hoops the club has to go through to start the renovations but it might be possible for the work to be done this summer.

Sounds like that is a good project in many aspects.

They should have my box seat done by next season!?!?
    (Right, I wish.)

They are removing all the mobile food carts and building permanent concessions into the back of hammy.

The most interesting is this restaurant they are building between the Riverside and Hammy end which will overlook the river. Sounds good to me.

If you sit in the right place on the Hammy End you can watch the river float by rather than Fulham being thumped. I hope this "get out of jail clause" does not go in the development, but if it does, the progress is worth it.

A link to the drawings for the new Hammersmith End refurb...

...Here is the link, tons (imperial) of downloads and drawings for the obsessed (yes, ok, I have downloaded and printed each page):-

    http://www.idoxwam.lbhf.gov.uk/WAM/show ... /03377/FUL

Perhaps this is another reason why Mr Fayed could not afford to release funds for new players - but personally I would have a succesful team before I improve the ground, but what do I know...

It's good to see you posting here, LBN...finally another old timey MB'r recognizes the 'sane fulham fan' site.

And of course we wont have a lot of silly ass sparring {other than Don and me on politics}, perhaps because anyone who posts here is aware it's not just going to roll off into oblivion.
