I am surprised that you are so sure of this goal to close the thread. I thought he was early on it and it looped over the head of the keeper. It was a great goal for what it meant, and it was a great idea - but technically the execution was poor.

    Compare this with:

For me - the bicycle kick should be a power shot, not a delicate lob.

Actually, his 'thread closed' was rhetorical, of course.

Thread aint closed till I say it's closed. And it wont be closed.

However, a soft lob-over, whether chip or bike, is every bit as beautiful -under some conditions- as a power shot. How many times have we seen a 'sure goal' go into rows 12-20 from about the 8?

In fact, the way I saw that, if it had been a power shot it wouldnt have been a goal.
I think it was more luck than vision but he COULD have really smacked it, and didnt.. not like he missed the ball's sweet spot.

For me it was Jimmy's vs. Villa. That goal signified so much; that there was a fighting spirit left in this squad and what we had been missing for the prior 13 months.

I was thinking Bullard, then in no way could I not vote for Murphy. Soooo many vital goals, but that was the most vital at the end.

For me, any goal of the season has to have vision and technique. His vision was great - the goal was superb, the finish was lucky - if he had that kind of skill and control he would score 25 a season.
