    Compare and contrast:

Exhibit A: Clear late equalizer by Fulham. Everyone in the whole stadium can see the ball 3 feet over the line -- everyone but the blind linesman looking right at it with a clear view. RESULT: No goal, and a point robbed from Fulham.

Exhibit B: Late equalizing penalty awarded to Chelsea. Everyone in the whole stadium can see that there was no contact, but Chelsea's dive team has apparently been training hard in the off-season, and the blind ref awards a dubious penalty. RESULT: Pathetic penalty given, and Chelsea gifted a point.

Warner's gift to Boro is definitely Fulhamish. Fulham does everything right and a low shot lacking power beats the keeper... Result = Fulhamish.

The linesman definitely had blinders on to miss Healy's shot crossing the line. There is no excuse for missing that call. He had a clear line of site to the goal and the result of his poor decision lead to Fulham being denied a well deserved point. Result = Poor Officiating

The Liverpool Chelsea game was poorly managed by Styles. He got too involved with the players as the commentators mentioned and he became a little yellow card happy. I believe it was Finnan that Styles judged to have fouled Malouda in the box. Neither player seemed to go for the ball and there was little to no contact made. Liverpool got hosed. They dominated the game and were done wrong by the penalty decision. Result = Poor Officiating

Styles is just a bad refree. He has some bad calls last year too. Chelsa players figure if they get 9 players around the refree they have a chance to win.

yeah, fulhamish, but a sh*te call by the linesman.. does anyone know where to see a replay of the shot? I don't get FSC (yet?), or anything like that, and I couldn't find anything else around.

btw, so far the premeirship stuff isn't up yet, but for a great collection of goals, esp. bundesliga, I found goalstube.com -- interesting stuff

The whole game was Fulhamish. It takes a true glutton for pain to be a soccer fan for teams that aren't loaded to the hilt with money.

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but Rob Styles and the lineman who robbed Healy have both been dropped from next weekend's matches.

It's not much consolation, but they are admitting they got the calls wrong. When is the Prem going to join the 21st century and employ some sort of replay system? Maybe it's not feasible or fair for fouls and other such calls, but for goals, like Healy's, there should definitely be a way to review it.

It's good the line gets a 'game off' but he should get more than that. Hell, the ref scheduler can always make that up, later.

The following is off topic... sorta:
Crew had the same problem Saturday night... but it wasnt that the ref really blew the calls in DC's favor... it's that so many of his calls and non-calls were blatantly wrong.
It was apparent from replay that Perkins did save the one in question.. but Heron watched as Schelotto I think was held back from a pass with a dual arm-lock.. you know when you get a guy from the back and loop your arms thru his at the elbows.. no more than 4 yards away.

What happens then is that this throws the players off, they dont know what will get called and what wont.

But it will be interesting to see what happens to Sigi from MLS:
My bet... MLS wont say a thing. Otherwise Heron might have to explain. And if they DO say something then Sigi should ask for a look into the 'book' odds when Heron is scheduled. So again, MLS wont say a thing.

The rest of you.. bet AGAINST DC next time Heron is scheduled.

    Back on topic:

FA and any other sports league ignore the NBA problem at their peril. What have we seen in Eastern Europe... what's the residual stench in Italy?

Pisses me off that a league would have to keep up on all the Credit ratings of their players and officials.
Back off topic:Especially that Sigi's management of his roster was so bizarre for a must-win game. I think Sigi would be the last one to fiddle but it just shows how fishy things look.

Any way you look at it, we got hosed. Call if Fulhamish, call it bad luck, whatever. It was just one damn thing after another. Let's hope we don't have another match like that this season. Or ever.

I received a email from a friend in the UK who told me he heard Styles has been "relegated" for a series of games and has to prove himself before he'll be allowed to ref in the Premiership again. The Healy goal is being used as an example for the need of goalline cameras in the top league.

How about atrocious goaltending? In the two seasons I've been watching and rooting for Fulham, the goalkeeping has been awful. Can't they sign an American keeper or something??? We have plenty and they're cheap...

Perhaps this guy knew something we did not. Kasey Keller signed with Fulham today.

I've never seen Niemi play...as you mentioned he's always hurt.

Weird I just wrote that a few hours ago and we just signed Keller!!! Keller can still play, certainly better than the stiffs we've had between the pipes lately...Can I ask for another solid defender or two while my prayers are being answered??? (doesn't have to be an American!)

If it could be used sparingly it could be great. Along with goal-lines, when an incident like Malouda's flop happens, if a ref has replay he can blow his whistle, knowing he's going to call it a dive or a foul. That'd also make the floppers think twice... Besides, what's that 4th official doing when not subbing people anyways? In fact, Football has way more money that tennis and yet they have like 10 judges at one match. There's no reason they could have permanent end-line judges. I don't think that would interfere with the flow of a game, anymore than a crap penalty would.
