Two years ago Bill Simmons wrote of the Kitchen Sink game. In that column he stated that teams whom face must win games do all sorts of crazy things to get the W, everything short of throwing out the kitchen sink.

Well, Fulham is at their kitchen sink game.

LS needs to totally change players and tactics to get the 3 needed points. No more long ball, no more davis/murphy/kuqi, no more aimless offense. No more embarrasment.

Lets go back to Arsenal, Bolton, ManCity, and Spurs when the boys played with purpose, knowledge, and desire. Does anybody remember those days? Does anymore remember actually being proud when watching Fulham play and LS manage? It seems eons, but it was only a few months ago.

    Here's my lineup:

    ----------------Niemi-----------------
    ---Omz--Boca--Hughes--Ashton---
    Davies--Smertin--Volzy--Dempsey
    ----------Healy--Kamz--------------

    Subs:
    Warner
    Stef
    Bouazza
    Murphy
    Pearce

3-0 in a rout, with dempsey chopping brownie's head off and LS having a fracas with Bruce on the sideline.

Can I get an Amen??, you're preaching to the choir...Couldn't agree more TimmyG. Put Kamara and Healy up front for the rest of the month and see what they can do.

We will win this match, there is no other option.

I like the lineup, though I would try to get Bouazza in there too. I've been thinking that a 4-5-1/4-3-3 would work with the players we have:

    --------------------Niemi----------------------
    Omozusi-Hughes-Boca/Stef-Konchesky
    -------Smertin---Dempsey---Volz----------
    Davies-----------------------------Bouazza
    --------------------Healy----------------------

I've been saying for the past few weeks that it is not Lawrie Sanchez' fault that we lost to Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton away, so he should not be sacked because of our current form. However, we are better than Wigan. We have to beat them, and we have to give the players and fans a confidence boost. To do this, we need to win comfortably. When was the last time we beat somebody badly? West Brom a couple years ago? We're due for a repeat of that.

Healy scores twice, Kamara comes on at the half and scores two more. Bouazza also scores and a Titus Bramble own goal.

    LOL

I like a lot of Don's ideas in the Newcastle postgame thread.
    Niemi
    Omozusi - Hughes - Bocanegra - Konchesky
    Davies - Smertin - Dempsey - Bouazza
    Healy - Kamara

    Warner
    Stefanovic
    Seol
    Murphy
    Kuqi

As Timmyg points out, this is a kitchen sink game. None of our scoring punch should be on the bench waiting for the 65th minute to make an impact. Can we bring Collins John back from loan? I'd rather have his pace coming off the bench, if that were actually an option.

Agree 100% with jmh's lineup. That XI have shown the greatest capabilty to attack while defending moderately well. Going with a 4-5-1 would be too reserved for this match. Healy has shown that he is still a far cry away from lone striker material. Still lacking that physical edge.

The Mad Russian returns and not a moment too soon. Fulham's been lacking his leadership and composure in the middle of the park. Murphy has been disappointing as of late, but nearly as much as Davis has let down the side. Both need a break and Dempsey will slot in nicely in his natural "attacking midfielder" position.

COYW's. We need this three points. Mind the kitchen sink...

Fulham haven't been playing embarassing football. They're just less talented than Liverpool, Man United, Everton, and Newcastle.

I'm with Josh except I'd replace Seol with Baird.

We have to attack and attack and attack. Scare the crap out of them.

I agree with you, Lyle, both here and in your post-Newcastle comments. This was a tough stretch of games and the only one I hoped to get even a point was newcastle.

Yep, and people forget Fulham was relegation material from the beginning of the season. It's really no surprise to be in the bottom 3 at the moment.

Not winning against Middlesbrough, Wigan, Derby, and Sunderland has cost Fulham big time. Not winning against Liverpool, Man United, Everton, and Newcastle not so much.

I kid you not, I have only just calmed down from the Newcastle match. Never have I been so livid with a result. Now I feel (a bit) better and can think rationally.

Our first half against was unacceptable and the second half while better was a waste of 45 minutes against a very average Newcastle side.

Only 3 points will be acceptable and I am with Josh and his line-up, it's all about getting goals now! We will have a close to full house with plenty of support for the Fulham boys so no excuses now.

For those who didn't know, we saw Tigana in the Riverside stand...how he would be welcomed back with open arms but not gonna happen.

Right, back to reality. We need a hero. COYW's

I'm at the point where I could care less who's out there, I just want a victory. Having said that, it's time for Smertin to make his return to the lineup. Long ball has got to go...let's possess through the middle of the field, see if we can't spring Kamara through on goal. Also, bait Michael Brown. He is a guy who will always react so let's bait him and see if we can't get him to see red in a moment of madness. (hopefully not at the expense of one of our players health)

If is helps, I won't watch this weekend. I don't feel like going through an industrial sized bottle of Pepto Bismo this weekend.

No predictions, they don't help, at least from me, so I'll just hope for 90 hard minutes as opposed to 80 or 85.

Wow! What an impact the firing of Sancez has had on this board. I can't remember the last time we haven't had a single post on the day before any match -- never mind one as critical as this.

I can't wait for the TV tomorrow, and besides, I want to hear what GJ has to say about the firing, so I'll be catching the radio at 9 a.m. central. I'll check out the chatroom to see if there are any other radioheads about.

    I like our chances. COYW

oh, and for goodness sake, somebody read my Christmas match[es] preview! I'm getting fewer readers than a Pultizer prizewinning poet!

It is hard to know what to think about the game tormorrow. The firing of Sanchez puts so many variables into the mixer it makes guessing what is going to happen seem like some maddening mathmatical formula. Will the boys be hardened and determined or will the team be broken and down spirited. Who is going to start? Will the temporary manager be allowed to shake things up a bit or be told to sit on his hands and play it safe?

Seems like the only thing to do is sit and wait.

hmm, i think with the firing of LS this match might not be a kitchen sink game but something else.

and does anyone else feel somewhat let down to see him go? its like when you're with a gal and it isnt working out but you're finally willing to give her once last chance to get it right so you set things up perfectly......

and then she bails at the last minute.

you arent really sad to see her go, but you put some emotional investment into her setting it right. kind of a let down, no?

Firing a coach is one thing, doing it on the day before an important match is another. We have three matchs in eight days, two on the road. It either should have been done the Monday after the last match or waited until the first of the year. Very disruptive. Usually, there is a slight bounce after a firing and then the club settles down to its previous form. This could throw the entire club into chaos. I support the club, but it could have been handled better. I am curious to see how the players react.

Hopefully they'll have Collins John come out at halftime to introduce him...

Sounds like Lewington will make some lineup changes, so it should be interesting. Baird at CB perhaps? Or maybe Volz back to midfield? Whatever happens, I'm really excited about this game.

A 90 minute effort. That's all I'm looking for. For the love of all things in sport, give me a full 90+4 minutes, Fulham!
