Both teams come off disappointing losses to lower league sides in the Carling (Micky Mouse) Cup.

Zola is the man with the attacking plan at West Ham. Roy is our hope for a mid-table and beyond finish.

Bobby Z wants revenge and I've checked on the Spammers boards and they are worried about him. Let's hope he can put one or two past them. Now that he is rested let's hope he is up for it.

    My line up:

    -----Schwarzer-----

    Pantsil -- Hangeland -- Hughes -- Konch

    Davies -- Jimmy -- Danny -- Gera

    Bobby -- Johnson

    You know it makes sense.

Should be an entertaining affair, and Mike's lineup will surely be the one Roy goes with. After watching the Spam/Newcastle match last weekend the guy we better be concerned with is DiMichele (spelling??). He was absolutely sensational (scored two and assisted on the third) and looks to be a handful. After going scoreless last week (and last night) I look for at least 2 and possibly 3 finding the back of the net for the good guys.

This match result will give us our first real opportunity to assess our progress from May to September. West Ham is a team we should dominate, but very seldom do. This season is one where we should be able to kick them. They're in financial trouble; they've transferred several starters to keep themselves afloat. They lost their first choice manager, and now they're looking at a 30m pound fine.

If we can beat them convincingly, then I think we're on our way to mid-table comfort. If we drop any points to them in the state they're in, then I think it's going to be yet another nail-biter of a season for us.

no predictions; just hope [and change]

    Seconded, but unlikely.

Hoping for a repeat performance of the Arsenal match and not so much of the Blackburn disappointment.

Don't think Roy will adjust his side much. Might use a few subs due to the likely fast pace of the match.

Here's to Setanta not throwing the Fulham match under the bus again... Cheers.

No preditction except that I will once again miss the chat room and I will probably be without internet access until possibly Monday. Travel soccer officially kicks in this weekend with a trip to Nashville so a preemptive COYW's for the Hammer's match!

i think roy has no choice but to keep dempsey on the bench to start the match. what does that tell the team if dempsey starts? that said, bring him on around the 60 minute mark for murph...slide Gera over...give Demps a shot to show his mettle. I say 2-0 for the good guys with Z-bird and F-5 on the score sheet, and Pantsil flying up and down the right flank all day!

Hopefully i'll be proven wrong, but I think that this is going to be a tougher match then some people are anticipating. Against Newcastle WHam was quick in attack and Di Michele was very fast ...
I'll optimistically say that we'll take all three points from this one winning 2-1, with goals coming from AJ and Jimmy.

I love your optimism ohio4. I agree, the Di Michele guy looks good. I'll take 2-0, 2-1, or whatever as long as we come away with 3 points.

FYI: If anyone else has Setanta Broadband, the Fulham v. West Ham match will be on Broadband 2 live at 0955 am.

So at least I'll be able to watch it somehow.

DC fans: Summers for West Ham

I plan to be at Summers to watch Saturday's game, although I could be late because my wife and I are running in a 5K Saturday morning. Summers is in Arlington about a block from the Court House Metro station on the Orange Line.

    Here's BBC's preview:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal ... 626909.stm

SOCCERNET'S must be classified, I guess. SKY SPORTS NEWS says that Zamora and Jimmy the Bull will feature, and that WHU will be without Carlton Cole, Ashton, and Bellamy. This makes their attack much more easily handled. If we're serious about ending the season comfortably mid-table, we MUST beat teams like West Ham at home [and away for that matter].

One bit of sympathy for the opponents. Ashton is one of those guys who is never really going to accomplish what his talent and drive deserve. Injury after injury. West Ham's loss -- and England's loss for that matter.

I agree with you about Ashton Don. From the little I have seen him he looks extremely talented so I will not be sad to see him miss the Fulham match at all.

I would think that Zamora will be up for this match in particular and I am looking for something special out of him.

We should beat WHam, but they seem to play against us. In Premier League action, they are unbeaten at The Cottage (taking 13 of 15 points).
Hopefully, Paintsil and Zamora will be the difference tomorrow against their old team and get us a win. I think it'll be another nail bitter (2-2).
Roy will stick with the same line up as last week and I'm sure he'll bring in plenty of subs. Dempsey should get in there for late heroics.
