Well well well. Squeaky bum time, eh?

Luckily, not in a relegation-sense. But Europa.

Villa have been woeful of late, their only win since February 7 (!!!) on Monday against Hull City, who should be relegated if not for the insipidness at the bottom. And us gifting them 6 points...

    But hey!

The match is live on Setanta (as far as i know). I think we can take all 3 points. And with a Manc derby, Spurs/Everton, Cheaters/Pool, we'll need it.

    Any news on injuries?

I think we may take three as well, Timmy, depending on who we have at forward. Villa have confirmed their European position, and they can't catch Arsenal. Martin O'Neil has already confirmed that his squad is exhausted. I expect a weakened squad this weekend. If we have anyone to lead the line, we should do well.

Having said that, there's a definite lack in attack and linking since we lost Simon Davies. This is a concern for our European ambitions.

Physioroom.com lists Johnson, Davies, and Lee Cook -- I mean, Giles Barnes -- as out for the weekend. If Nevland and/or Zamora is also out, I was thinking a 4-5-1 with the usual suspects across the back and trying to push Dempsey and Gera forward on the wings to accompany Kamara up front, and Dacourt in the midfield. Not ideal by any means, but it's a worst-case injury scenario. If Zamora and Nevland are ready to go, than the same lineup as last week.

Villa is still sucking wind big time.I guess that's how hard it is to break into the CL spots, once Laursen went down their season tanked like a house of cards in a hurricane.

No specific prediction here, other than I like our chances. COYW!

I love our chances to take all three this week. Last week the other matches didn't fall our way and I never thought they would. This week they could. I could see West Ham, Spurs & Man City all lose this week.

Of our remaining fixtures, to me, this is probably the most important (if we want to play in Europe next season).

Not sure what our injury situation is, so I'll go with a gut 1-0 win at home. Villa haven't exactly set the world on fire the second half of the season, so I can't say I'm that concerned.

You have to feel for Villa. They lost Carew for most of the season, and having to replace Laureson with Zat was a crusher. They have amazing young talent in Agbonlahor, Young, and Young, but they have no depth -- except betwixt the pipes.

After my prediction of victory last week blew up in my face less than a minute into the game, I have learned my lesson and will refrain from any prognostications.

Last week, I made much of the fact that Chelsea would be exhausted and had nothing to play for. Don (rightly) accused me of "whistling past the graveyard."

I note that Don is now making similar statements about AV:
I humbly defer to Don's experience and judgement.

Don also stated how awesome it was that we don't have any injuries a few weeks ago.

I've got torches and pitchforks readily available in case we want to mob his house.

....oh, and about the match. We need all three. I'd like to go in to the last two matches ahead of those other scumbags who are in the mix with us and I like our chances of that if we win this match. how bout a 2-0 victory and some stellar play from the Deuce.

It looks as if we'll be without Davies [for the season] and Johnson. I personally think that if Zamora is healthy, we should go with him and Nevland [if HE is healthy]. If the Viking can't play, I'd put Clint up front with BobbyZ.

Villa's defense is suspect. Without Laureson, they're hurting. Davies is the only quality guy they have, with Young more interested in attacking. They've been using forwards and midfielders in their LB position. It's a shame we don't have Simon to drive them crazy. Let's hope for a good match for Gera.

And to those who pooh-pooh my comments re-Chelsea, what was that score again? Chelsea at their hovel and Villa on the road are two different bits of business. I'm not guaranteeing it, but I believe we have a good chance of nicking all three.

As someone once might have said, "If HatterDon says a cow is gonna lay an egg, don't ask how, just find the biggest skillet you can!"

Now, can you stop picketing my house about the recent injuries? I don't mind the torches so much, but the pitchforks make my neighbor's cats nervous.

Don, I admire your level of personal sacrifice to attract people to SA for a watch party, but this is a tad extreme (even with the omission of pitchforks).

Last time out, with both teams in good form, we drew 0-0 at their place. Now both teams are thin and tired and we're at home. I don't see us keeping a clean sheet and I think more than one goal may be asking a bit much. So I'll go with 1-1.

The massive win with goals in abundance comes next week.

    Hi all
fully agree with everybody saying that the Villa defence is suspect,
we have to attack this leaky defenc every hard and fast, and keep it up,which might leave us open to a counter attack style of play-which Villa are good at
2-nil to the Fulham, lets do these while we've got the chance-Villa are a good side, but the premire league are slowly waking up to the fact that so are we

What the hell, I'll make a bold prediction. Not like I'm superstitious enough to believe I'm REALLY jinxing Fulham by predicting a win:

    Fulham 3-1 Villa
    Gera, Zamora, Murphy (pen); Agbonlahor

No worries, you got both Gera and Zamora scoring, so your predication won't be taken too seriously.

Seems I'l lhave a few yanks coming to join me tomorrow (too bad I'm working the game). Rudy (a.k.a. RDG) and a serviceman Adam and better half will be there. Let's hope for a bit of luck and three points.

I haven't heard of any injury news on either side so expected full strength both ways (minus Davies for us of course).

I think my son is starting to feel the fever. Today he asked "What time are we watching Fulham tomorrow?" He's getting more and more into watching the games with me. He's 13

Hopefully my newborn will take an interest much earlier.
