Fulham have Charlton Athletic at home the weekend of Jan 7th and 8th.

Looks like 3 PL matchups with the big one being Manchester City v Manchester United.

I can remember when I started watching the Prem that Charlton was a solid mid-table club for years and boom they got relegated in 2 straight seasons.

** I need help ** Can someone remember the USMNT defender that was very successful in the Dutch league then signed w/Charlton (probably the season before they got relegated), but suffered season ending knee injuried consecutive years??? I've been raking my brain and can't think of his name. He was probably our best cb at the time of his injuries and belongs on the "if only list" of US players that careers were sidetracked.

Thank You Heather!!! I can now sleep tonight :D

Looked him up and didn't realize his knees were good enough to still play w/Chicago in the MLS.

Yeah, good old Cory Gibbs actually had a pretty good year for the Fire. He might have too many miles on him to be relevant to the National team, but I think he's got a few more decent MLS seasons in him.

Charlton definitely faded fast, they were pretty similar to Fulham 5 years ago and now they're in League One. Beating a League One side at home shouldn't be a problem, just as long as we don't look past them. After the group stage is done, we should have a bit of a break in the Europa League and maybe reinforcements from the transfer window, so no reason we can't move on to the 4th Round.

FA Cup, here we go. Not sure what to expect other than seeing some different faces. Unfortunately, I can't find any tv listings for this match, not even a replay. Probably doesn't bode well for a stream either.

My wild stab at the line-up:
    Stockdale
    Kelly
    Hangeland
    Hughes
    Briggs
    Sidwell
    Gecov
    Frei
Davies (I think he might be available?)
    Dembele
    Sa

Score prediction: 2-1...a close one, but we squeak by with late goal.

Chat room anyone...GJ maybe our only hope?

I did a quick search of Fox Soccer / Plus and couldn't find it - even on replay.

A win - no losses and no draws (don't want Fulham to have to visit The Valley - what with all those Deborah Foreman and Nick Cage types loitering about).

On the heels of a 2-1 come from behind win over Arsenal, this one has Fulhamish written all over it. Charlton sit atop the table in League 1. They're getting regular goal production from multiple players in the side, so it's not as simple as shutting down one or two guys. And they have a good goalie in Hamer. However, Hamer is serving a suspension for a red card and that may be what helps us keep the old hoodoo at bay.

As for my guess, we concede a late goal (our m.o. this year) allowing Charlton to level and have to go to their place for a replay. I'd have picked us to lose outright if it weren't for the keeper issue.

Fulham XI - Stockdale, Kelly, Senderos, Hangeland, Riise, Murphy, Ruiz, Dembele, Dempsey, Frei, and Zamora.
Bench - Etheridge, Sidwell, Sa, Kasami, Gecov, Hughes & Duff.

So we're going for it. Good!

Hattrick for the Duece :banana-dance: We are seeing him elevating his game to greater heights. The concacaf connection of Ruiz and Dempsey have got soemthing cooking.

I wish I could've been in the chat longer than 2min and 17 seconds. Hopefully next time. So great to have a place to go to talk Fulham. And like Dempsey my son got a hattrick today :banana-linedance:

But also like the Dempsey, the other team was essentially a lower division. :shhh:

Edit: So read a match report. No one mentioned that Dempsey was allowed to shoot another penalty. Yikes.

And Duff got the forth goal. Yay!

There may have been a highlights broadcast embargo until the ITV1 FA cup review show which ended this hour. We were on for about a minute towards the end, after Crawley Town v Bristol City; typical.

ITV showed the four goals and the sumptuous interplay between Bryan and Dempsey, who timed his run to perfection on the opener. He dispatched his spot kick hard and shoulder height to the left; result.

So, we are in the hat for the next round tomorrow with no chance of Burnley away or G**lin**am in the next round; pukka.

Glad I was able to make the chat room, even if only for the first half. May have to break out my NE Rev's coffee mug again after Clint's hat trick!
