Our we sure this will be in HD? Won't it just be the same feed Setanta had?

ESPN will only be broadcasting matches in the UK I do believe.

    From the article:

Would be really cool if they showed all of those games in the US, but they've been careful in the wording to always say "in the UK" so it makes me think they won't.

Yes, ESPN HAS REPLACED SETANTA ONLY IN THE BRITISH ISLES. Those of you who live in the States and get Setanta will continue to get your footie there.

Apologies for simultaneously raising hopes and cackles, and for subsequently dashing hopes. I'll revert to the background...

No need for that otherwise they will come looking to erase me altogether.

So Setanta is still good to go in the US of A? I know it still exists as a channel in my list of cable channels but I unsubscribed during the summer to save some money. I wanted to make sure before renewing once the season started.

I just thought we were SOL when it came to the Setanta schedule of matches.

Yeah, but what PL games they'll carry will probably be announced at the last minute.
ESPN NA doesnt seem to be to anxious to carry those games themselves. Best bet would be to camp on a search in Google/news - and watch the Setanta site, of course

It would also be nice if Setanta would respond to emails sent to them. :?

speak of the devil, this is the email just sent to me:

    Hi Sean,

It has been widely reported in various media channels that Setanta Sports
has had its agreement to broadcast 46 Barclays Premier League matches in the
    UK terminated.

This development does not affect our channels and other services in the US
    and Canada.

Setanta Sports in the North America is a separate operation that has
separate agreement to show the Barclay's Premier League. Our channels and
other services in the US and Canada continue to broadcast and our
subscribers can still enjoy our programming including the Currie Cup and the
Tri Nations. We are also planning on continuing our Ligue 1 coverage next
    season.

New customers are welcome to subscribe to watch some of the world's best
soccer and rugby either by contacting our cable and satellite partners or
    online at www.setanta.com/us.

We thank you for your continued interest in Setanta Sports and look forward
to bringing you a wealth of sport over the coming months and years.

    Best,

    James

It was great to watch an EPL match in HD. And good on ESPN, none of the feared cut-ins and a very minimized use of the scroll. Can't wait for a Fulham match on ESPN2.

So the Chelsea-Hull game WAS on ESPN (in the USA)? I checked the schedule online as espn.com and it didn't show it...
