Fulham currently have two ways qualify for next season's Europa League. The first is to obviously win the whole thing this year. But as I've just seen on Sky Sports News we've been given a lifeline via the UEFA Fair Play League. The top 3 countries get an extra spot in the Europa League and England currently sit 3rd. In the EPL Fair Play table, Fulham currently sit 3rd behind Arsenal and Spurs but both of them are already qualified for UEFA competitions. Meaning Fulham would get that extra spot. FWIW, if Fulham qualify next year by being the Europa League holders then relagated Burnley would get the spot, as it sits now.

    Fair Play Rankings
    1. Sweden - 8.263
    2. Denmark - 8.169
    3. England - 8.168
    4. Finland - 8.159

    Premier League Fair Play table
    1. Arsenal - 8.59
    2. Tottenham - 8.48
    3. Fulham 8.43
    4. Man Utd - 8.41
    5. Chelsea - 8.39
    6. Burnley - 8.24
    7. Aston Villa - 8.23

I'm guessing Burnley supporters will be cheering for Fulham tonight then?

Isn't there a rule about how many clubs from a country can be in a competition? I thought there was a deal several years ago where liverpool won the CL, but didn't qualify by virtue of their league position. Which meant that #4 didn't get a spot in the CL, Everton just so happened to be in that spot. Would it be possible for England to have 9 teams in european competitions (4CL, 3EL, 1ELchampion, 1Fair Play)?

No, what happened was Liverpool finished 5th behind Everton who were 4th. Yet because they won the CL, they lobbied UEFA to let them back into the competition as the title holders -- before this point the title holders did not automatically qualify for the proceeding year.

And yes, there just might be 9 total English teams in Europe.

    I see.

9 teams should do good things for England's 5-year average for the UEFA coefficient.

In fact I think either FIFA made that a rule or others adopted it. Same goes for ConCaCaf CL.

Hindsight, Liverpool were correct, for once.

Those fair play numbers look the same as ones I saw for only 1/2 of the season. Is there a link for the source?

I want us to qualify as champions. Getting there on the fair play table is kind of weak. It's how Man City got there a few years back -- at our expense, as I remember.
