Fulham fan in Houston

Hello all. Fulham fan and Texas Longhorn fan living in Houston. I really only started following soccer closely in the last year. I've been a big fan of Duece for his Texas roots and his performances with the USMNT. Started following Fulham last year just in time for the great escape. I made my first trip to Craven Cottage last season, and I am looking forward to going back.

I had Dynamo season tickets last year, but I had such a bad experience with Robertson Stadium, I'm only planning to attend a few games this year. I get together every couple of weeks or so with a group of friends to watch games on the weekends (none are Fulham supporters unfortunately). We haven't really settled on a steady place, but Firkin and Phoenix is probably the leader. But for games before 9 AM, Big John's is about the only place that will open up that early. We'll actually be at Firkin this Saturday for Newcastle if you want to drop by and say hi. I'll be wearing a home kit and a black Longhorn hat.

You guys any closer to a new stadia? It looks like we may finally get one in San Jose (not to rub it in).

Welcome aboard. I grew up in Houston and own a home in the Heights. I am working abroad in Engalnd for another 12 months but will be returning to Houston thereafter.

I actually like Robertson. But getting out of there is a bear. We usually tailgate so we just sit back for 30 minutes or so and let it clear out. With any luck, we will have a stadium downtown by the start of the 2010 season. Seems the city, county, and Dynamo are close to hammering out the final deal.

I pull for the 'Horns but officially I am a Lumberjack (SFA).

I haven't been to Robertson, what's the issue? I've been to Reliant for the Dynamo/Galaxy-Barca/Club America night three years ago. Great night with my sons.

 

I totally miss this thread, but I live in Houston. Wasn't in town this weekend though. I went to the Dynamo's opening season game, but I'm not a huge fan.

Last year I went to the Richmond Arms a few times to watch games, and met Clevelandmo and her family there. Definitely can meet up next season though.
