so the new season's fixtures will be out on Thursday. I think the fact that the court isn't sitting on Sheffield United's appeal until AFTER that makes it 100% certain that Wet Spam will still be in the Prem next season.

So, do we want to play the newbies right away in hopes of getting some points in the bag? Do we want to make a statement against a big club? Considering all the leavings and none of the arrivings, will there be enought warm bodies to play anyone come August 11?

Answers, please, on a post card ...

Fog: should be about time for a 2007-2008 thread category. You might move this one there once it's a reality.

COYW!!!! Let's get some in 07-08!!!!

Newcastle. They have a new manager and are making a bunch of changes. I'd like to get them early where they haven't had time to mesh together in Prewmiership play....maybe start off with a win against a side that I think will be improved under Big Sam.

I say give Derby a good thumping welcome to The League.

Agree completely with PCB. Fulham hasn't shaken their side up much so everyone will be fairly comfortable with each other and have match experience. It would be best to start off with sides that are new to the EPL this season or a side that has a lot of new signings and are unfamiliar with each other.

This is always an interesting topic to debate. I am of the belief that I do NOT want to face any of the big guns in the first couple of matches nor do I want to face any of the newbies in the first month of the season.

Despite coming from differing parts of the table, the big guns will be playing to prove they are worthy of being a top club as we unfortunately witnessed in our opening match last season.

The newbies want to show everyone they are worthy of their Premiership status and usually play with a sense of urgency from the first game on. I would prefer not to play any newbies until November, but that is pretty much impossible.

I would prefer to play a team like Wigan, Blackburn or even Bolton. In other words, a team in our same situation or in our class. Yes, I know Bolton has been successful in past seasons, but Big Sam is gone and things will change some at the Reebok.

I am excited for Thursday to say the least.

From Liverpool's past early season experience under Rafa...wouldn't be bad to catch them early on...:(

Fulham will have to eventually. Would like to see them down Chelsea at the Bridge, but probably wishful thinking.

Big club, small club, mid-table club, newbie, the Hackensack Bulls...no es importa, I just want to see a victory to kick off the campaign! No draw, no loss, just a win to start our 9 month relegation battle.

I was so happy when we got our first away win last season so early in the campaign after sweating it right down to the end the season before. THEN we didn't get another one for the rest of the year!

This year, I'd like three victories in our first six matches please Santa, with at least one of them on the road. I'm with Tom. I want one of the mid-tablers. I especially want Pompey since I think we outplayed them twice and got two points instead of six. Is June to early to want to stick one to Harry?

Geez; how am I gonna wait two more months?

Hahaha, wouldn't mind to see Harry's Pompey lose in a last minute goal from Fulham. Would be the perfect way to end the match.

Anyone know when you can register as a ticket member for FFC? Hasn't been posted on Fulham's website yet, but I imagine it can't be much longer after the schedule is posted Thursday.

I would like to see us play one of the "Big Four" and stick it to them. We'll have nothing to lose.

Someone wrote on the FFC board that we're likely to play West Ham in the first match. Who knows though?

Obviously a tough start at Arsenal, but for the most part I like the way the fixtures shake out.

    Things that caught my eye:

    1. No promoted teams until October 20th against Derby. This should give the newbies plenty of time to calm down after what is usually a furious start by the promoted teams. I prefer playing them in the middle of the season and it looks as though for the most part Fulham will play all of them in that time.

    2. The Christmas fixtures feature home matches against Wigan and Chelsea sandwiched around road games at Tottenham and Birmingham City. I think Fulham can do well during this period.

    3. The run in to end the season is nearly as daunting as it was last season. This years last seven games are @Derby, v Sunderland, @Reading, v Liverpool, @Man City, v Birmingham and @Portsmouth. I am NOT saying this is easy, but it sure beats last years run in.

Regardless of the fixtures, Fulham needs to get some fresh new players in soon. We know the opponents now for the 2007-2008 season, now we just need to know who the Cottagers will have on the field themselves.

There isn't a side with much more unrest and uncertainty than Arsenal so why not knock off one of the big four to get the season started.

"Regardless of the fixtures, Fulham needs to get some fresh new players in soon. We know the opponents now for the 2007-2008 season, now we just need to know who the Cottagers will have on the field themselves." Can't agree enough with this statement...

At least we'll be sure to be on TV on opening day. August 11th in soon! Get some players in, I'm starting to worry.

I better make sure Directv is installed that day. I am flying back to Indiana on the 10th so the opening fixture is a must.

am i the only one worried when looking at the fixture list? last year we got off to a great start (after the ManU drubbing of course) and had it not been for that (along w/ Deuce's goal) we for sure would have gone down. Now I look at the fixture list for this year and I see some tough matches at the beginning. That along with the fact that we still haven't signed anyone is making me a little pessimistic...and you rarely see that from me!
