I'm a little late on this one, but Edwin Van Der Sar has been granted an indefinite leave of absence by MUFC to care for his wife, who had a brain hemorrhage. He played for Fulham before he went to the Red Devils. Good luck and God Bless, and if he has faced his last shot, well, congratulations on an excellent career.
