This is way early, but whatever.

    1. Manchester United
    2. Chelsea
    3. Liverpool
    4. Arsenal
    5. Tottenham
    6. Manchester City
    7. Aston Villa
    8. Portsmouth
    9. Everton
    10. Newcastle
    11. Middlesbrough
    12. West Ham
    13. Fulham
    14. Sunderland
    15. Blackburn
    16. West Bromwich Albion
    17. Hull City
    18. Wigan
    19. Bolton
    20. Stoke City

It's going to be a better season than last year I think. The battle for first will be harder. Tottenham, Man City, Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Everton should all make a run at the fourth spot. The race for first should also be closer than usual with Man United winning due to quality and experience.

Fulham could finish as high as 11th and as low as 19th. It will probably be another nail biter, but I think Roy will get the team on a roll at some point (first few months maybe?) and the team will finish above the drop zone with some room to spare.

Stoke City should be the Derby of this year. They aren't making any moves this summer and they will be pretty bad. Maybe they'll play like Watford and make themselves proud, but they're likely to be just as bad as Derby. Hull City are buying and could get enough players in to surprisingly stay up. West Brom is a quality team with a quality coach and I think they can stay up.

Wigan should stay up. They've got enough quality to do so, but I think at some point they'll lose it and drop. If not this year, soon. Bolton will likely stay up as well, but they're not a great organization and although I kind of like Megson, he's about as good a manager as Lawrie Sanchez. Without Sam Allardyce and more money, they aren't going to stay up for long either.

Blackburn will fall apart this year as well, but not enough to get relegated. Ince, is a cool guy, but not ready yet and the organization will have some problems if they lose Bentley and Santa Cruz.

NEVER too early to suck at prognosticating!

On second thought, maybe it is. I need more info on who goes where, first.

Yeah, I picked Liverpool to win it last year. Oops. Everybody else I about got right though.

I've picked Liverpool two years in a row, but I want to wait until the transfer-go-round has had some results before I show my ass this year.

I'm tempted to make my picks, but (like everyone else) I want to wait until some transfers have occurred.

Will we make this a formal pool this year?

Why not make an early prediction, than a more serious one later on? What's the harm?

Very well Lyle - I did have 'em ready:

    1. Chelsea
    2. Manchester United
    3. Liverpool
    4. Portsmouth
    5. Arsenal
    6. Tottenham
    7. Aston Villa
    8. Newcastle
    9. Everton
    10. Blackburn
    11. West Ham
    12. West Bromwich Albion
    13. Fulham
    14. Wigan
    15. Manchester City
    16. Bolton
    17. Middlesbrough
    18. Stoke City
    19. Hull City
    20. Sunderland

Sorry to be boring Lyle, but I had the Whites at 13th as well. I think West Brom will make a splash and Sunderland will be awful. Man City will pick up right where it left off (collapse), Pompey will be Cinderella, and Chelsea will make a huge transfer push and will be just good enough to edge a Ronaldo-distracted ManU. Berbatov will win the Golden Boot. I will miss blue-collar Reading...

    Mo,

With Derby and Birmingham going down, we've moved up from 9th to 7th. If Bolton gets relegated this season, we'll be eligible for Europe before a ball's been kicked!

    Bradical,

I'm with you on Sunderland. They could definitely fall this year. They didn't bring in a lot of quality players last year and they seem to be struggling to do so at the moment. Players seem to not want to go to Sunderland. Roy Keane might scare the hell out of them as well.

Portsmouth will have a very good year next year as well, I think.

ian, I think you are not alone in jumping on the 'pool wagon lately. I'm calling it the Keane Effect. And the Reds have looked down-right wicked in their pre-season friendlies.

I'm still not ready to throw my picks out there yet. Too much time left still in this transfer period.

I have jumped on the 'pool wagon. And as such huge favorites they will most likely disappoint but on paper they are the scariest team. Who wouldn't be afraid of Keane and Torres?

Point of order: are we again going to have an offical prediction thread with a deadline and a prize to the person who sucked the least? If so, we should be getting going on it soon. If THIS is that thread, we should say so soon, and delete the "Early" from the title.
