    .. have one GLORIOUS season?!!!

I've done my bit by superstitiously staying away from Crew Stadium.

But some Las Vegas punks want to stink up the place.

Of course, there's no lack of hysteria on Crew BS forums.

I'll cut to the chase: This bunch wants a franchise for Las Vegas AND they're wanting a share of Crew ownership. Added to that, Crew Stadium is a separate operational entity.

This could all be made moot if Don Garber had the gonads to flat-out state that MLS with have absolutely nothing to do with anything having the least connection to anyone in the state of Nevada. Dont hold your breath.

First, I think it's a shame that you decided you had to miss all the great football being played by Yellow Submarine USA. I understand the jinx mentality, but how often are you going to be able to see this kind of quality fitba in person?

Second of all, I fully agree with your NO-NEVADA stance. The NBA has toyed with a Las Vegas franchise, and I've even heard talk of MLB's interest. Why? Well, of course, because that's where the money is. But it's also where the gambling is. World soccer is right up there with college basketball fighting for number 1 in fixed games [and perception of same]. While the sport is still fighting for legitimacy as a major event here in the states, we don't need ANYTHING to cast any doubts on the sanctity of MLS results. A Las Vegas franchise will open speculation about match-fixing just by its location, and it's only a matter of time until ... .

Finally, I think the MLS should continue to look for venues where they can be THE major league professional sport -- Columbus, San Jose, Salt Lake City. The NBA has prospered with franchises like Portland, Sacramento, and San Antonio, and OKC will do well as well. There's a lot to be said for having a major league lock on a mid-size to large city [San Antonio is the 8th largest city in the US, but is still considered a mid-size market].

So, NO to Las Vegas and keep the Gliddens in Columbus! And 'fog, get your tired butt out to a match. If I lived within 50 miles of a franchise I'd be there.

It's exactly 52 miles. But after 12 seasons, I can see how they are playing on TV and visualize exactly how it would look if I was sitting there.

I actually SHOULD go this Saturday. It's time for the Crew to get a loss under their belt, so they cant refocus and re-psych.

Who better than to give Garber a Plum on Becks and LD and the glory of LA beating the best.

First of all...Fog enough of the superstitition mumbo-jumbo, for a long suffering fan not to go to a game is kind of silly isn't it? Staying away to guarantee team success would seem to come from the conspiracy-theory type

Rumors fly around, but I can't see a team ending up in Vegas. Why go to a market that consists of transplants? The town has only supported UNLV sports whole-heartedly during the Tark the Shark days. It's a great 'event' town, but highly doubtful that it could sustain support for a MLS team.

The gambling is a non-issue. The main reason being people don't bet on MLS games, period. The wifey and I go to Vegas usually 3 times a year and I've never once seen a match from any league (let alone the MLS) in any sportbook. The only time I've seen footie on the big board was during the WC. Without doing research I would venture to guess that soccer betting is probably less than 1% of 1% of the overall pie.

Well.. okay I'll quit making excuses.

    Now back to 'Nevada Crew!'

Dispatch writer remembers the Whalers foof:
Skepticism on Crew is healthy, for now

You hockey fans remember the Whalers, right? Did you ALSO know they threatened to move to Columbus before they became the 'Canes? That's not the point, but that's why we remember what the owner said to Hartford fans.

All I'm waiting for is the ' We CATEGORICALLY DENY..." quote. That's the thud of that fabled shoe..

HDon. San Antonio is considered a mid-sized market because the population of both its DMA and its Metro doesn't compare favorably to over 25 other markets. From a radio ratings perspective, the San Antonio Metro is ranked #30; from a TV perspective, the San Antonio DMA is ranked #37.

Green Bay Packers is the only top league sports team not in a Top 50 Radio Market (though arguably owns Milwaukee, which is top 50). I will also note that the Rochester Rhinos, one of the top USL1 teams, is also not in a top 50 Radio market.
