Having watched Southampton's match last weekend against Derby and then watching the highlights yesterday of their match against Coventry City, the Saints have a 17-year-old left back named Gareth Bale that is going to be a great player for the future.

In the opening two matches he has scored a free-kick goal in each match and having witnessed both, they were great. Bale has already played one match for his native Wales and will perhaps be involved in Welsh manager John Toshack's plans for European 2008 qualifying in September.

I would not be shocked to see some of the bigger clubs coming in for Bale this month, January or next summer if Southampton does not get promoted this season. If you get a chance to watch this kid, check him out. He is a special player.
