I'm hoping his agent had more than just this club on the shopping list. He'll probably not get signed by anybody until late January, and there should really be some bidding for his services.

And I'm hoping the Crew takes some of the Sounders' 'go-away' money and signs Chad up for a Year and Option year at the league max.

    Palermo to Crew?

Not so fast say some Crew fans

Taking you into the end of discussing an intriguing possibility on BSCrew..

They gave Crew Brian Carroll, and six points, that's how they did.

    RE: Palermo to Crew?

The fact that Palermo is considering The League, when he could probably find time in Europe, surprises me somewhat.

The fact that fans of The League question his potential contribution does not, and only confirms the lack of informed opinion by those fans.

Anyone who has seen this guy play would know he would be a great and exciting addition, especially for The League.

    re: Palermo to MLS?

I believe the discussion in the link doesnt question his value as an individual player.... it questions his value to one team in particular.

Since one player doesnt win games all by himself {or it would have been Crew v LA in the Cup} seems to me the point is made.

It's a really exciting fantasy to have GBS and Palermo on the same team but given the salary hit and what young developing players might have to be given up, I think I'll defer to Crew management. Other than Sigi, they seem to have done pretty well.

As to why Palermo might want to go to MLS... when you read the background 'little local' articles and interviews, you might find that these name players like the idea of just playing the game without the 'drama' encountered in higher profile environs.
That even comes down to Alejandro Moreno, who is pretty unequivocal in his desire to stay in Columbus rather than follow Sigi. Something about the city.. when you get there you want to stay there.

And Beckham was a McCain supporter too, right?
Sorry, don't buy into that argument. The makings of the undoing of the Galaxy were in place before Beckham arrived. And it appears to me that continued bad management did not get any better once he was there.

Palermo is no Beckham. Right now, he is arguably better. And not nearly the "distraction" (or draw) that Beckham is.
