The guy who only gets to play in non-EPL games had a blinder tonight. He saved a penalty to get the match into overtime, kept things level at nil-nil until penalties, and then stopped three of Sunderland's four penalty attempts -- and this on the roead.

    Nice one, Brad.

And justified his place on the MNT. Love it when my estimations prove right. He definitely was the cream of the MLS crop till he left.

Hopefully these are the signs of Friedel's training and he is only going to get better. I saw a video on youtube of the MNT training before the CR match (I think it was that match) and Friedel was in for a split second as training goalie as the team took practice shots. Glad to see the US is at least producing something above average in the Football world - go figure it is the position that allows us to use our hands.

Both O'Neill and Bruce w/postmatch compliments for Guzan. At what point does another team start inquiring about his services?

And Brad seems to have lost his starting gig. He's on the bench in favor of Given today again. Doubtful he'll see the pitch at Wembley either. I don't think it's a question of skill as it is the huge ego of their new manager.

Given has been in goal for their FA Cup run. What killed Guzan was the match after Villa won the semifinal he had a howler of Tony Warner proportions at Man City (no pressure clearance kick went straight right and to a Citeh player for a goal, they ended up losing the match 3-2, it was ESPN sportscenter's top gaffe of the week).
