I find this shocking...It will be weird not see Friedel as the Blackburn goalkeeper. At least Blackburn could go pick up Keller if the want to keep the American theme.

would you trade Brad Freidel for Paul Robinson? I certainly wouldn't. With the porous defense that Blackburn features, they're likely to be in trouble this season. I think they've damaged themselves this summer from top to bottom.

    yeah,
    Friedel is a better keeper.
i'd like to see Blackburn sell off Roque Santa Cruz as well.
With West Brom looking like a contender to stay up (but not the other two newly promoted teams), it'll be interesting to see who the third relegated team will be -- maybe Bolton?

Brad was on Premier League World over the weekend. I was really impressed. He is solid, grounded, focused, and also cares about the game back here at home.

    I was really pleased.

Agree. There was a big spread on him in the Cleveland paper about a year or so ago. It was mostly about the soccer academy that he has started just outside of Cleveland. He's all class as far a I can see.

... agree, Mo; but you need to add some talent, intensity, concentration, and committment to that.

    Friedel still blazing trails.

Not only is he still blazing trails he was played a real blazing match for Villa last weekend. If you didn't get to watch it Big Bad Brad was near epic tending the nets. Best performance I have seen since Timmy against Argentina.

Randy Lerner, however, was not available for comment on Sunday Afternoon. I'll say it for you, Randy:
"Where can I find an O'Neill and Friedel for the Browns?!!!!!"
One out of two aint bad in these times, Randy!

You don't find a lot of Friedel's and O'Neill's loose on the ground, 'fog. Each of them will be in the all-time great category by the time Mo is our age.

The Friedel beat his red card from the weekend. I thought the straight red was undeserved. It looked like he went in for the ball and then opted to protect himself, tripping up Torres in the process. Glad to see the FA right the injustice (something they seem to be pretty poor at). This also keeps his streak intact and means he'll be available for ManU.

I gotta say, I thought he would get hosed. Watching Rooney not get a further suspension indicated a level of justice for the big 4 and then everyone else. But Bad Brad will be back in the sticks, so I guess I should quit whining.

Rooney got the red on a second yellow, hence the one-game suspension rather than two for a straight red. If you were expecting an additional penalty for abberent behavior or over-the-top harrying of an official, you should realize that what Rooney did is what is expected from anyone at United from ball-boy to Sir Alex.

I thought the red was harsh. I thought overturning it was justice.
