Little did I know it at the time, but this was the first step I took to becoming a Fulham fan:

It took me some time to get off the fence and start supporting FFC in full. But before that, Fulham were a club I always wanted to see do well. Ormondroyd's site was one of the reasons. He represented Fulham with a great sense of humor. The cartoons are wonderful match reports that gave you a good introduction to a club that was going places.

I hope those of you who never got to visit this site on a regular basis get a kick out of the link.

Haha, his cartoons were legendary although all of them were before my time as a supporter.

OMG; this is so funny. I clicked back to 98-99 and read the Luton-Fulham "match report" -- aside from putting Luton in the wrong county, it was brilliant -- especially in re- the Luton "fans."

Nice linkin' Lincoln. I didn't know the site existed.

I'm just glad the archive.org site decided to maintain multiple pages of the old Virtual Fulham website. If you try to access Ormondroyd's site directly, then it forwards you The Guardian section with the match reports he did for them.

Looking through those old reports does take you back. One of the matches from that link was against Wolves. I listened to that match. Fulham poured pressure on Wolves, but couldn't break through.

The idealistic, ambitious mindset at the club at that particular time and place in its history is something I'd like to see regained at some point. Difficult to do when you're staring relegation in the face.

If you get the chance, HatterDon, check out any of the Man City match reports. The job Ormondroyd does on Morrison is priceless.

The first thing that comes across seeing any match at Kenilworth Road on television is the intimacy of the ground. You seem to be right on top the action. It reminds me of Duke's basketball court in that respect.

Bump...this stuff is too good not to share. Fulham v. Preston 98/99 is one of my favorites.

I just wish he'd kept up with his website. He's got a great feel for what is taking place at Fulham and uses a keen wit to tell the story.

Nothing sums up Lee Cook's stay at Fulham better:

"He's a player made from magic cloth, which only a deluded fool can't see."

    I love these cartoons.
