    Great story! A bit of deprivation can be quite a motivation. I love the part about seeing his Dad's strange pointy ball equipment.

    That is pretty good!
    I've read some BAFA/BAFL stories before but that's a switch.

    Also noted "almost lost his accent' and I was thinking.. "Friedel". sure 'nough, he's from 'Crawley, south of London'.. I always thought the accents were softer and more malleable, the further south.

    Would have been more interesting for us here if he'd been from York City...or the East End.
