As an admirer of Ajax's academy and development of players, this was an enjoyable read. http://www.espn.com/soccer/blog/esp...be-a-killer-for-ajax-its-their-business-model I think Fulham's academy if outstanding, but we have a long way to go to match Ajax's output. And, truth be told, if we do end up going down this season, I'd like to see more kids getting their shot (although that's a tough ask in the rough and tumble Championship) on the first team.
Watching Ajax destroy Madrid at the Bernabeu was some of the more enjoyable 90 minutes of football this season. Dusan Tadic was the best #10 on the pitch by a country mile and that’s saying something with Luka Modric being on the other side. Just knowing Sergio Ramos intentionally got a 2nd yellow in the first leg so he would be safe for the round of 8 made me laugh, he’s an utter scumbag and deserved the giant slice of humble pie he ate in club suite.
I caught most of it too. Most satisfying. One of the things I dislike most about this sport is the utter and sheer near total domination of a handful of clubs. Any time one of them comes a cropper against a decided underdog in a big competition, especially in their building, well, it warms the cockles of my heart.
