I'm happy for the kid. Never doubted the effort, but... no goals (not sure if he even had a shot on goal) + no assists + getting bullied in the center of the pitch = bench. He has to be thanking his lucky stars to be where he is.

Glad to see Spurs lose (sorry Jensers), not because of any hatred per se, more because of that ridiculous performance vs the Brummies last week (thanks for the laydown, 4-1? to Birmingham??)

Nah - you are right. You cant go out on a two week drunk and expect to win. They are going to need to get it together!

I wonder what it would take for the Fulham to stop selling away talent. (Stupid question of course... it would take a bunch of $). I started following Fulham because of the Americans, and I kept watching them over the last couple of years because I thought they were showing a pattern of improvement and that they were serious about growing the club.

I dont have a problem with the fact that they are small and that they may never spend more than a few years in the top flight, and that they may not want to grow. Also no problem with the mentality that it is an opportunity to turn over some players and make some short range improvements... I understand that, but I guess I was misguided in my impression that those days were behind the club and that they were really serious about making a charge.

I will still follow the club, but I am going to drop the optimism.

Just watched about half of the first leg of Rangers v. Fiorentina -- primarily to see Steve Davis. For me he was Rangers' most creative player on display. Their back four should share man of the match, but Steve really looks good playing in a European semi. Got my first opportunity to watch Cousin play other than highlights also. He came on as a sub and dominated in the air for the last half hour. He's also tough and hard to shake off the ball as well. He reminded me most of Villa's John Carew. I kind of wonder what might have been if FIFA hadn't been such assholes.

A former Fulham flop playing for Rangers... he's obviously not a candidate to be among my favorite players. Having said that, he's been a good addition for the team and has been settled right into Walter Smith's style of play.

Still hope Viola humps them in Italy, though. I'm just about sick of the Gers' insistence on not playing football for 90 minutes.

I actually thought Davis was fairly good for us. He had a few bad matches but I also saw a bunch where he was all over the pitch winning back possession by pressuring the opposition into giveaways. It would have been interesting to see him play in Roy's system. Too bad we most likely won't get that chance.

Fiorentina just has too much clas and talent not to win this at home.

And if you are looking for an almost had (at least according to us dreamers about a year ago), look no further than Tomas Ujfalusi, CB for the Gigliati! (Oh, and a Czech National.)

HOW. THE. HELL. DID. RANGERS. ADVANCE.

Seriously, it's a joke. They played ultra-hyper-defensive football throughout the two legs and somehow managed to jam their way through two 0-0 draws and the penalties (in Florence, no less). No way in hell they deserved to go through. Even the neutrals in other forums are blasting the way they played.

I couldn't care less if Davis was there, I'm not a happy camper at all at the moment.

    Penalties, penalties, penalties...

Fiorentina had some great chances that they didn't convert = fickle fate of penalties sends them on their way.

Too bad Beas is hurt - has a U.S. player ever featured in a Euro final?

krhimself, maybe Gachapin can cheer you up?!?

I'm channeling him up right now, finding clips on Youtube should console me for the time being.

I'm tempted to write a preview for the final match-up at Manchester though. If I do, expect to see plenty of piss-take...

Wasn't this basically the same game plan ManU employed against Barca with the exception that ManU managed to pull out a regulation goal? I think we should be roasting Sir Alex before we do the Ger's. Except Christian of course, it is your perogative as a Celtic fan to flame the Ger's on any whim or whimsey  .

There must be some mistake. ESPN is reporting that Zenit dumptrucked Bayern Munich 4-0 to get through to the final. Someone is having a late April Fools session at ESPN.

I had to miss that game -- how in blue blazes with a cherry on top did that happen?

Keep in mind, I'm also a Sellik fan myself.

Rangers have been doing this the entire UEFA Cup campaign. To be fair, they have been stretched thin due to injuries and their busy schedule, but to consistently produce awful displays of football like this... well, let's just say that I hope Benit freakin humps them in the Eastlands.

    I doubt it'll happen though.

Can't say I care about Rangers one way or the other, but sadly that was the only way they could win. Saw the would-be White Cousin get 2 yellows rather quickly and will miss the final (nice move knucklehead). Great PK by Vieri (what the hell was that?).

Even if you hate them, you gotta put Nacho Novo on the all-name team.

So far this has been the worst European final (whether the Champions League or the UEFA Cup) I've seen in recent memory...

    Why am I not surprised?
