Right now every fan w/a WC interest are burning candles anytime a player is seen limping. Injuries are a part of any sport, but when you've waited 4 years the last 70 days can be excruciating.

You have wide range of off the field incidents i.e Charlie Davies' car accident, Cabanas the star forward of Paraguay shot in a Mexico City club, Wayne Bridge leaving England because the actions of an idiot.

Devastating on the field injuries; Beckham (devastating for him personally, but not necessarily for England).

How many Spanish and English fans had their hands on their heads when they saw Rooney and Fabregas limping off? Now Cesc will be in a race to be ready while Shrek appears to be okay in a month.

Besides Charlie, USMNT have been trying to keep tabs on Gooch and now our fingers are crossed for Holden. We all breathed a sigh of relieve to see Deuce come back. Both Bob Bradley and ClevelandMo will now have to concerned that Brian Ching's knock from last night isn't too bad.

All in all a very interesting dynamic to the regular day-to-day business of the game.

As scary as it sounds, though, Fabragas is basically Spain's Holden - expected to be on the squad, often comes off the bench to play, but not in the Starting XI. The Spanish are more bummed for him than worried about the impact to the squad's chances.

Sounds like Holden should be back in about two weeks.

    http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... ean_Davis/

"The midfielder broke his leg on international duty earlier this month but is making excellent progress, and is believed to be only a fortnight away from being considered for the first-team squad.

“I’d hope Stuart can get back by the end of the season,” Coyle said. “The timing of his injury was a real blow to the lad because he had worked ever so hard.”"

And I think Gooch is close to training again fully with Milan.

    - sigh -

And to think that, after 2002, many of us seriously thought 2010 might be the year.
    - Obviously we missed. 2008 was the year.

OTOH.. if you compare to 1998, US couldnt do worse if it used an All-MLS roster.
So, what we have to look forward to isnt bracket success, it's what we do with what we've got at the moment.

    ie; Fulhamish
