"Fulham manager Roy Hodgson is tired of being the only man on the training ground who speaks seven languages and reads books, which could explain his interest in signing notoriously well-educated literature buff and Swiss centre-back Philippe Senderos from Arsenal."

Well, then. Let's knit the most pervasive rumors this early summer together shall we?

Hodgson so wants Senderos that he takes him to Liverpool. In exchange, Aresenal get Pepe Reina. Roy, meanwhile is replaced at Fulham by Sven Goren Ericksson who wants to be reuinted with his former Man City boss, now Fulham's CEO.*

Rumors that SGE really wants the job in hopes of shagging Georgie Thompson and Lily Allen cannot be ignored, nor can they be substatiated [because I just made them up], but that doesn't mean that they'll all be repeated ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

Well now, SGE hitting up Lily Allen, eh? I like the cut of your jib, Mr. Hatter.

As the immortal Lionel Hutz, Esq. once stated: "We've plenty of hearsay and conjecture. Those are KINDS of evidence..."

Martin, those comments were in jest -- I know how the Sun, NOTW, Mirror, etc. operate, and that there is a lot of fiction and bottom feeding amongst the group -- cheers!

Without seeing the transfer fee, I like the Senderos signing, good cover at CB, hopefully it didnt come with a swap of Hangeland.

Also, if Senderos had hair, he would look EXACTLY like Zoltan.

I think he looks a bit like Andy Johnson, though maybe that's just because he's bald.

And we can add another of our guys to the World Cup contingent; Switzerland open up against Spain next Wednesday the 16th.

Nervous about the Senderos signing (yeah, I said it), I thought he was a weak link in the Arsenal back four. I hope I am not speaking of him in December-Jamuary like I did about Zat Knight, or the Sanchez edition of Chris Baird.

Sounds like he was a free agent. I had Phil Senderos as a 26-win player in 07/08 (though in limited time), so he has the potential to be very good. He's dropped off since, probably due in part to never actually playing.

He looks like a good prospect for Roy and Co to mold. He had the talent to land at Arsenal, but is it really surprising he didn't develop defensively under Wenger? Especially given the absence of playing time.

I'd expect him to develop into a good backup with an eye to taking over for Hangman or Hughes in 2-3 years.

As long as the players we have stay I say it could be a good pickup, but it worries me when we pickup CBs with all the he say/she say with our CBs.

Today, that is what I am telling myself. After all, Woy knows a little more about players than I do.

Let's hope he doesn't have Andy's injury problems. When he first started featuring in Arsenal's first team I was very impressed. I thought for sure he'd mature into something meaningful by now. I don't know what happened, aside from injuries.

Roy's no fool, though, and if you've played for Wenger, you're used to discipline, spacing and a boss that says, "It's my way or it's my way; take your pick." Let's hope he does for Senderos what he did for Hughes.

25 year olds that are injury prone are a scary proposition. However, he's a good player and a good signing. Let's face facts, someone splashes 12 million for the Hangman, could managment say no?

I wouldn't (say no, that is). As great as he is, Hughes and Baird aren't far behind, and I think Phil has the potential to be even better.

I've heard this guy is awesome.

Senderos signing is quality. Dude is still young and has a careers worth of experience already.

I've heard that too. Only had 4 goals this past season (a real down year for Standard) but was among the league leaders with 16 in 2008-09 and 15 in 2007-08
