Well, I think of MLK every time I see a new clip of Rev Wright 'guest preaching', every time I see our President apologizing to the world, and sometimes when I watch our congressional leadership.

I think: Is this what he would have wanted? Frankly, I can't answer that.

Well Spencer I cant speak for "fog but when I read his post I agreed. I have to wonder what Dr. King would think of the fact that so many blacks in the US have failed to take advantage of all that he worked for and in fact, as a culture, have essentially rejected all that he worked for. Instead, they follow the likes of Rev. Wright in droves and listen to his anti-white, anti-jewish hate-filled words. By continuing to play the victims have they stolen or negated what Dr. King's movement accomplished?

I would like to thank Spencer for commenting on the accomplishments and legacy of Dr. King.

I would also like to commend everyone who has commented on this thread for respecting the memory of a man who was murdered while trying to promote peace and justice, rather than using his life and death as a way to attack African Americans for the purposes of partisan politics.

Which you, of course, would NEVER do!

I mean God forbid we would look at reality instead of holding hands and singing 'Kum-bay-ahh'.

Of course, the highlights are mine and I wonder if that is directed toward me.

Martin Luther King Jr was a human being, with all the faults and foibles of a human being. He was no plaster saint to be deified for purposes of 'feeling good about one's world view'.

That said, he was responsible, by his own life AND death, for the quite considerable change in attitude towards black people in the South, and to a lesser extent in northern cities, such as Boston.

You could do worse than brush up on his life using wiki. I feel it's pretty well balanced.

When I say I wonder what Dr King would think about racial divides of today, I take into account that his ties to World Socialist groups may have been true, in fact. This would not mean that he still, indeed ever, advocated those world views. He was an intelligent man, after all.

So Spencer ALSO puts words in my mouth. Don's bad enough but I thought Spencer was learning cognitive analysis.
    I said:
"I think: Is this what he would have wanted? Frankly, I can't answer that."

No where in there is an equation of King to Wright. Further I explained that later and Spencer chose to NOT comment on that..

So you tell me who is thinking on the issue of Dr King's Legacy and who responds by attacks on the thinker.
    And BTW:
I must have missed that.. would you please provide a link to that?
What did he tell them to shove? I dont get it.

Speaking of "I must have missed it," exactly where was it that I quoted you incorrectly in this thread? That's what "put words in my mouth" means.
